Cinale

Cinale

"Hmmm... Something smells good," Daigoro murmured as he walked up behind the cook. With _almost_ practiced ease he slipped his arms around her waist. It was still a little new and awkward, but he knew practice would make perfect, and he was all for practicing.

A pleasant warmth flooded her cheeks at his touch, and she leaned back a little into his embrace, the stew momentarily forgotten. "That would be your dinner, hon," she murmured back, her voice a bit breathless. The casual touches Daigoro would bestow on her were new and exciting, and her heart always seemed to quicken...especially when his lips were near enough to her ear so she could feel the warmth of his breath.

"Stew for me?" he asked, turning to kiss the side of her head gently. "How did you know I was hungry?" Shards it felt so good to touch Cinale! He wondered what had made him wait so long?

"I know _you_ and your habits," she grinned, closing her eyes as she tilted her head into his kiss. "It's past dinnertime, and you always eat after the chaos has died down..."

"The chaos has died down a bit, hasn't it," he grinned, turning his head this way and that. "And I see we have the kitchens completely to ourselves."

Blushing, she glanced at him. "It's rather nice, isn't it?"

"Umhmmm," Daigoro hummed into her ear. "There was a reason why I always waited so long. It was the only time I could be fairly certain I would have you all to myself."

A slight shiver ran up her spine as his breath tickled her ear. All those times... "Shards, hon...we waited too long," she whispered, turning so the tip of her nose brushed lightly against his lips.

He kissed the tip of her nose softly. "Well, I for one wouldn't have traded a moment of it, girl. They were all precious moments I spent with you."

Her smile was tender as her eyes fluttered closed. Turning, she rested her head against the curve of his neck and shoulder - a perfect fit.
"Precious moments with me..._and_ my fine cooking," she teased.

"The luckiest man on Pern, that's what I am, my sweet woman." His arms wrapped tighter around her. "I knew I was in love with you the moment my lips met your cooking."

She snorted, grinning. "How romantic. Now we all know why the Hallsecond wooes the the cook..."

He thought about making a comment about her wonderfully rounded buns, but decided against it. "And why's that, love?"

Cinale shook her head, her blue eyes glinting up into his. "You tell me."

"Because she's the most perfect creature this old brewer has ever laid eyes on." Daigoro brushed his nose against hers. "And why would the cook want to allow herself to be wooed by the Hallsecond eh?"

"Because she loves him."

"Oh, you beauty you," he grinned. Daigoro leaned down and kissed her softly. It still felt like the first time.

Her hands slid up to rest on his shoulders, and her response to him was just as soft. Just as tender.

"Oh...my!" It was rather unfortunate that circumstances arose that Catriana had chosen _this_ particular time to come back to the kitchen.
She'd been cornered by a handful of journeymen and been made to promise to bring them a pot of klah or two....and cookies, if there were any left.
They were working late in the cellers organizing and categorizing this year's wines. Unfortunate, it seems, for all three of them. Hastily, she closed the door again.

Daigoro heard the door and let go of the cook immediately, his face turning bright red. Rather loudly he said, "Why, yes, Cinale, I do think the stew smells lovely. And I sure am hungry!"

"All right, boys! I'll bring you the klah!" Catriana called out behind the door. Waited a moment, then opened it again. "Oh! Hello, Daigoro, Cinale.
Is there any klah ready by chance?" she asked, hoping she wasn't blushing.
Then she saw Daigoro's face and had to bite down, hard, on her lip to keep from giggling. They were so darn cute!

Cinale's face was a rather interesting shade of pink as she backed away from Daigoro towards the hearth. She couldn't keep the soft smile from her lips though as her eyes flickered to his. Clearing her throat, she gestured to one of the pots. "Yes, hon, there's a pot right here. I was brewing it for Daigoro, but you can go ahead and take it."

"Yes, Cat, that's fine. Go ahead and take it. I'll wait for the next pot." He glanced up at the girl but then quickly bent over the stew, pretending to appreciate the smell. He turned his head slightly to look at the cook. When his eyes met Cinale's, her sweet little smile only made him blush more, and he turned his eyes back down into the bubbling pot to keep himself from grinning like an idiot.

"Thank you." She curtsied to them and quickly made up a tray of klah and cups and things. Just as she was about to slip out the door again, she paused, and looked back over her shoulder. She looked as if she were about to say something, then shook her head with a smile before stepping out.
Cinale and Daigoro...it was about time!
