For the Hall

Writers: Ames, Suzee
Date Posted: 16th May 2015

Characters: Famell, Naton
Description: Preparing for a trip.
Location: Dolphin Hall
Date: month 12, day 3 of Turn 7
Notes: Shailara, Jylanya, Irabel

Now that he was back to being fully active, Famell wanted to check in
with each of his dolphineers to see how things were progressing.

His first stops had been the masters. He'd already seen Thayde and
received an update on the Hall, now he was on to see Naton.

"Good day to you, Naton," Famell called out as he entered the room
where the master dolphineer was working.

"Hallmaster," Naton nodded. The dolphineer had been getting some
equipment ready for a trip to the Seacrafter Hall. "I'm just finishing
up this chest for the Seacrafters."

Famell walked over to the chest and ran his hands along the details.
"Do fill me in. What all is heading towards the Seacraft Hall on this
next trip?"

"The big hurricane last month. They need some of my lights for salvage
work," he smiled at Famell. "The word is spreading all along the
coast.

"Fantastic!" Famell remarked, "Not the hurricane of course, but that
your lights have become so popular. I must say it has definitely been
a huge benefit to the Hall." Each trade of one of Naton's lights
brought with it things that the Dolphin Hall needed in return. The
Hall was thriving and Naton's project had been a big factor in recent
days.

"Glad to hear it," Naton smiled. "I thought I'd send along a
Journeyman with experience to train the seacrafters. What do you
think?"

"That sounds like an excellent idea. Do you have anyone in mind for
the job?" Famell asked. He knew Naton worked more closely with the
Journeyman than he had recently and would have a plan in place.

"Well I was thinking Irabel if she has an escort. The Seacrafters
aren't all that keen on female crafters but she really knows this
equipment and she needs some experience traveling."

"She is an excellent choice, but yes, we will have to make sure she
has the right escort. The seacrafters do know that we employ many
female crafters and they accept it, even though it may not be exactly
what they prefer," Famell replied.

"Exactly," Naton agreed. "Do you know if there is anyone she'd prefer
to travel with?"

"Good question and to be honest, she'd be the best person to ask. If I
see her on my rounds today I'll ask her," Famell replied. It would be
good to get out and spend time talking with all the dolphineers again.
He felt like he had lost touch with some of them and the goings-on
these past few months.

"That sounds good," he nodded. "I know we'll want to get them started
soon. Do you think there's any chance of getting these over there by
dragon?" His main concern was that the Hall needed them sooner rather
than later.

"I think we can make arrangements for that. The Weyr is very helpful
when we need to transport things. I'll contact them later today and
see if we can get a transport set up. When will the lights be all
ready to go?" Famell wanted to make sure he gave Naton enough time
before he set up a dragon transport. "If we're using dragon transport,
have you considered going yourself to show them how the lights work?"

"Well," he said thinking quickly. "If I can be back before Turns End,
or Jylanya will be a very unhappy woman. Wouldn't want to miss our
wedding."

"It might be helpful if you go along. I know Master Relik would
appreciate having your expertise," he'd expressed as much to Famell in
the letters the two wrote back and forth to each other.

"If we got the Weyr to assist, I think we can easily make sure you and
the rest of the team were not gone long. And if all else failed, we
can have _you_ brought back after the initial training and leave some
of the others to provide continued support," Famell thought that would
be a grand idea.

"Oh and speaking of the wedding..." here he paused, "would you mind
ever so much if Shilara and I shared in your day? We've tried now a
few times to make things happen, but I would not wish to overshadow
you or Jylanya in anyway. We can always plan for another day."

"I'm happy to," he responded to the comment about going to the Hall
with the shipment. "I'm sure we won't mind. It might even make it a
bit easier on Jylanya." Naton stood up and looked at the Hallmaster
squarely. "I'm sure she will feel the same."

"Thank you," Famell replied. "Well, then, I shall leave you back to
your work. There will be much to get done before Turnover for both of
us now!" He gave the other dolphineer a grin and a pat on the back.
"Perhaps we'll need to plan a little celebration of our own before
hand!"
