Standing at the edge of the lake, Rhosyn waited until they had all
gathered. She'd put out notices on the board in the Dining Cavern and
elsewhere and they had borne fruit. Some of them were old players.
Some of them were new ones. Still, she was happy since it meant she'd
have something to occupy some of her free time with and keep in shape.

"Allright those of you who are going to play, practice
is always the day before restday in the morning after wing drills.
I'll put out the match schedule as soon as I get in touch with some
other folks and I feel we're ready." She nodded to everyone. "Let's go
around and introduce ourselves since we have some new faces.
Of course, I'm Rhosyn-team captain and goalie. The idea is not to let
it ever get to me just like in threadfall." She nodded for the next
person to speak.

"I'm Im're, blue Gormth's rider. I haven't played much," the red-head
introduced himself shyly.

Uetia hung at the back of the group. She really, really wanted to
play. But she couldn't. She had less than month of her pregnancy left.
It wouldn't prevent her observing.

"I'm Drumilla, journeyman healer and team's medic," Drumilla
introduced herself. She lifted up a bag filled with first-aid gear.
"So, if you get injuries, come to me. I don't actually play the game."

"F'lin, playing forward," the bronzerider said with a cocky grin. He'd
never actually played on a formal team before, but it couldn't be that
different from pick-up matches.

"A'kades, another one of the forwards," the bronzerider said. He'd
been on the waterball team before, though his injuries had taken him
off of it for awhile.

K'mai gave Uetia a quick kiss and gently touched her belly before
stepping closer to the others. "K'mai, also forward. That describes me
outside of waterball, too." He smiled.

D'arvn too was near Uetia and squeezed her hand as he stepped
forward. He knew how much it was bothering her not to be playing right
now. "D'arvn," he said simply with a raised hand. "Defender."

When everyone had a chance, Rhosyn started talking again. "There are
quite a few of us who have been playing for a bit, but some new faces
too and that's great. We don't have uniforms but I do have a cap made for each
of us with the Weyr's badge. Will need to get more of them. Also-a
certain Dragonsfall rider seems to think their Weyr can do better than
us." Maybe that would get them riled.

F'lin raised an eyebrow. "Doesn't Dragonsfall usually lose?"

"That doesn't mean Dragonsfall is going to go down with a fight.
While they may have had a history of losing, never lay down your guard
- they may surprise us." While J'ren wasn't playing as a regular, he
would be there to step in wherever he was needed. The game was
supposed to be fun, but that didn't mean they shouldn't hold on to a
healthy dose of competitiveness.

"And they have lots of new blood," K'mai said. "They lost riders to
that new Weyr and brought in others to replace them. It might be a
very different team." Hmm... did that R'axe fellow play waterball?

Smiling to herself, the Weyrwoman nodded. "New blood means no experience.
That's to our favor. I'll see about getting us a match. But we'll need to
practice for a few sevendays. So get in the water!"

Uetia watched them to go to water with heavy heart. She couldn't wait
to stop being pregnant and get back to normal. Drumilla touched her
arm with look of compassion in her eyes. "Wanna keep me company?" the
young healer asked.
