Description: Two sisters reunite
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 1, day 4 of Turn 8
They spiraled into the bowl near the river at River Bluff with a
wailing baby in her arms. Liddith kept trying to look over her
shoulder til finally Pierka shouted. "Just watch where you're going
alright?"
}:Fix him, fix him::{
**I will! He just didn't like /between/.** She shooshed and jiggled
the little guy until all she heard were sniffs and a pouting lower
lip.
Z'ku slid down from Xemroth and lifted his arms. "I can take him."
"Yes please," she said and unclasped the buckles that held him against
her then handed him down to Z'ku. Then swinging her leg over slid down
to the ground next to him. She pulled off her helmet and goggles and
stowed them. "He's just unhappy. That was his first trip /between/."
}: Who is your rider? :{ A soft, melodic mindvoice bespoke Liddith as
a young gold with an intense gaze focused on the arriving group. She
normally would have greeted the bronze first, but the appearance of a
woman that looked so like her own took precedence.
}:Mine is Pierka,:{ she supplied instantly. She was very flattered by
the attention of a gold even a very young one.
Anaeryth peered at the sniffling child for only a moment before her
eyes locked back on Pierka. They whirled with interest as she lowered
her head to get a better look, bringing her head down to look directly
into Pierka's face. She simply stared at the woman, blinking her lids
slowly. }: I know her. I have seen her in my rider's memories. Sad
memories. Is she here to make my rider sad? :{ The last was said to
the bronze accompanying them, a hint of censure and warning in the
soft voice.
}:She is here to meet your rider. They are... clutchmates but have not
seen each other for a long time.:{ That was Xemroth's best
understanding of the situation.
Z'ku rocked Kazom, trying to soothe the boy as he watched the gold
inspect Pierka.
Pierka stayed stock still as the gold gave her the once over. "Hello,"
she said with a smile though she was feeling a bit uncomfortable. She
dropped a curtsey, "Is yours around here somewhere?"
The gold lifted her head to peer behind her. }: She comes. :{
And indeed she did come. Confused by the images that Anaeryth had
sent, Lanniya had left the Dining Hall to walk towards her gold, her
brow carefully knit. As she came closer, her eyes went to the dragons
first, her head tilted to the side. She didn't recognize the green or
the bronze, nor did she know why Anaeryth was taking such an interest
in both of them. About to ask the dragons directly, her gaze went to
the riders with them. She didn't recognize the man but...Her eyes
widened and her mouth dropped open in a mixture of shock and
disbelief. Suddenly shaking hands covered her mouth, she stared at
Pierka with a sob. "It's true. It's true. I didn't believe it. It's
true!" Tears spilled unbidden from her eyes and with a shout of shaky
joy, she ran and flung herself at her sister, arms wrapped tight
around her. "You're alive! You're alive!"
Pierka was overwhelmed but then she'd known she would be and love
flowed to her from Liddith and shone from Z'ku. How could she not
accept this other new love and her arms went around the girl that
looked so much like her own reflection. "Lanniya," she breathed. "It's
good to see you." She might not remember but it really was good to see
her.
A smile spread across Z'ku's face and he bounced Kazom as he watched
the sisters embrace. They really did look strikingly alike. They could
almost be twins.
Anaeryth had tensed when Lanniya began to cry, but the happy feelings
overflowing from her lifemate had stilled any protest the gold may
have given. Instead, Anaeryth watched with interest. She had never
felt a riot of happiness from Lanniya and far from it disturbing her,
she made a happy rumble and settled near the green and bronze.
Lanniya couldn't stop the tears that flowed down her face. Her sister,
the one she had looked up to and idolized since as long as she could
remember was here. The years of grief and loss evaporated into
Pierkanya's embrace as she clutched at her. She couldn't help but
babble through her joyful sobs. "I've missed you so much and I never
thought I'd see you again. I've missed you so so much. I can't believe
it, I can't believe it. You're really here!" She pulled back just
enough to look at her sister's face, older now, but still so familiar
and then buried her head in her shoulder. "You're back. You're back
and you're okay."
Pierka smiled. Lanniya's enthusiasm was contagious and she couldn't
help the grin. "I'm just fine," she said. Then she took Lanniya's hand
and turned toward Z'ku and Kazom. "This is Z'ku of Dolphin Cove and
this is our son Kazom. I thought you'd like to meet them too."
It thrilled Z'ku every time she called Kazom their son. "Very pleased
to meet you, Lanniya." He bowed slightly, mindful of the baby in his
arms.
Wiping her eyes, Lanniya let herself be turned towards the man that
had come with her sister. With a silly, and very damp smile, she
greeted him, moving to lightly kiss his cheek. "Hello, Z'ku. I'm very
happy to meet you. I'm Lanniya and this is Anaeryth." She gestured to
the gold, who still watched them closely, but rumbled her own soft
greeting.
Her eyes went to the bundle in his arms and there was no mistaking the
instant adoration that lit on her face. "Oooh....he's beautiful. I'm
an aunt!" Though her eyes were red from the tears, her face beamed in
sudden pleasure. She clasped her hands at her chest as though she was
trying to hold herself back. "Can I hold him? Just for a little bit?"
Z'ku couldn't see why not, but waited for Pierka to confirm it was okay.
"Of course," she said with a small nod. Even without the memories
there was no doubt this was her sister. Other than the color of her
hair and her age, it was like looking into a mirror. "I never thought
I'd find any family again Lanniya."
Taking the baby carefully, Lanniya looked down at the small boy's face
and her eyes glowed. "Aren't you a handsome little guy, Kazom." She
rocked him in her arms and another tear leaked out. "I'm your auntie
and I'm going to spoil you rotten." She looked back up at her sister,
eyes glittering with happy tears. "Well, I'm not going anywhere. I
want to get to know you again." She paused and her lip quivered. "I
heard...our gran said that you were called Pierka now, not Pierkanya.
That was my name for you. When I was little. I couldn't say all of
your name."
Z'ku swallowed past a lump in his throat. He was so happy for Pierka.
Through a wonderful turn of luck, she had found her grandparents and
her sister. Lanniya seemed like a wonderful young woman.
"Yes," Pierka nodded, tears in her eyes. She would have like to have
met her parents but all in all this picture right now of her sister
holding her son was all she could ask for. "I am so happy we came to
meet you Lanniya," she said softly and put her arm around her sister's
shoulders. The red haired girl was shorter but only slightly. Pierka
squeezed slightly, "You can spoil him as rotten as you like."
Lanniya leaned against her sister, resting her head against Pierka's
shoulder. "So am I."
