"Hey, what's the long face, Im're? Is everything all right?" Uetia asked,
walking over to the young bluerider after a drill. She had been back to the
Rapids for nearly a month now. She was surprised how easily she had found
her place again.
"Hi, Uetia. It's...it's personal," Im're replied, hesitant and subdued.
"Whatever it is, it's bothering you and distracting you. You were bit slow
up there," Uetia said, her tone gentle. "Sometimes talking about it helps."
"It's, it's Lokkun. We broke up," Im're said with miserable voice and hung
his head.
"Oh, poor you, what happened?" Uetia asked and patted his shoulder.
"He wanted something more from me and I wasn't ready for it," Im're
replied. It wasn't first time when his own insecurities ruined his
relationships. The young redhead had still problems accepting himself as a
bluerider.
Uetia gave him a quick, sisterly hug. "That happens. Was it bad?"
Im're shook his head. "We kind of agreed to continue as just friends."
"Well, that's good. Sometimes it just doesn't work out, you know," Uetia
tried to sound wise although she wasn't _that_ much older than Im're. Only
four Turns. "At least he's still your friend."
Which would be preferable than losing your mate thru death. She looked sad
for a moment and Im're noticed it.
"Yes," he said. "How about you, how are you doing? With your baby and all?"
"I'm doing all right. Hardest part is to leave Sabia with the
fosterparents. And I still miss Sabonus but at least I don't break down
every time he's mentioned. Life goes on," Uetia replied.
"Now I feel totally selfish jerk for moaning over failed romance," Im're
said but he was grinning now.
"Hey, that's normal behaviour. Your own worries are always closest to your
heart," Uetia said and nudged him playfully. "You think Gormth will give
Sirjath a chase next time she Rises?"
That make the young bluerider's eyes bug out which has kind of been her
intention. Shock him out of his slump.
Uetia laughed, "Come one, let's grab a bite of eat," she suggested and
pointed towards the dining cavern.
"Yeah, sure, as soon I get Gormth free of straps," Im're promised. He was
feeling much better though. Maybe talking to Uetia had helped. "How come
you're not wingthird? You would make a good one," he wondered.
"Too young. I need more experience first," Uetia replied and turned to
remove straps from Sirjath. She was looking brighter, less brownish. It
wouldn't take long now and she would be Rising again. First time for who
knew how long time, Uetia find herself waiting for Sirjath's Mating Flight.
It felt good to be back in fighting wing. She belonged here.
