She opened her eyes and waited for them to adjust to the lack of light. Then, she climbed out of bed and pulled on drab gray trousers and wrapped her bust, flattening it considerably before putting on a matching tunic. Her face was shrouded by the hood of the cloak she wrapped around her left arm, and Nohria ran soundlessly outside, through the side door she still held the key to, rushing through the dark to the meeting place agreed upon by the bandits. She trilled a note that sounded like some nocturnal avian, and waited for confirmation.
An answering note sung out from a tree. Several men stepped out from behind the trees and one dropped down from inside the branches of one. "We're ready when you are," one said in a soft voice. He didn't bother to introduce himself or his men. After all, no one wanted to give anything up.
Nohria nodded and wordlessly lead them inside. Their target tonight was the room that the second key she had stolen lead to: The guards' weapons room. She had finally found out where its key lead last sevenday. Some weapons would be stolen, others would be damaged. One of the men was carrying a sack of tunnelsnakes that would wreck havoc on the objects.
The men had to trust her eyes; one of Nohria's most well-kept secrets was how excellently she could see in low-light conditions. She brought them to the appropriate room and opened it, leading them in. "Swords are on the left-most wall, along with spears," she whispered. "Bows of all kinds are on the back wall, and miscellaneous weapons are scattered about here. Take what you can carry." She would take nothing; she still had her paired knives in her boots, and that was all she needed. Besides, it wasn't as if she could keep stolen property in the Hold if it wasn't small enough.
"I'll take the spears," whispered Deklin. The man was big and would be able to carry a good amount of items out.
His brother Eraklin had the goal of damaging what he could so that when the guards did come after them, they'd be less well equipped. He went for the bows in the back, reasoning those would be easy enough to damage, and it would eliminate the long-range capability. His pocket knife went to work, snapping strings and gouging the wood.
Nohria got to work on cutting extra bowstrings and damaging care-repair kits as she counted minutes. They could not take too long on this; it was just too risky. She also kept an ear out for any sound of guards who might be up late for whatever reason. Cahvit also did what damage he could.
He was simply known as "Knuckles" for his tendency to hit things. His knuckles were indeed scarred and thickened by use. He picked up some swords to carry out and spent some time bending blades of those he couldn't carry.
Eraklin had moved on to breaking the spears that Deklin hadn't picked up. He couldn't wait to let the tunnelsnakes out, but he didn't want to do them yet, not while there was a chance they could all step on them and be bitten. Wouldn't that be suspicious?
Suddenly there were footsteps in the hallway outside, echoing down. They weren't close yet but were clearly approaching.
