G'nir

G'nir

The longer the day progressed, the crankier and crankier Eillispeth
became. She wanted to Rise but the weather kept dragons grounded. Even
the horniest green didn't fly right into a blizzard. Hoovering at her
ledge, she waited the weather to clear and even drove her ledge-mate
away, so irritable she had become. Pity on the weyrling dragons who
made the mistake of bothering her with questions or problems. The
attempt to keep her more and more volatile emotions out of his head
gave E'naer a headache. In all, it was very miserable day for both of
them.

After sunset the storm winds finally died down. It was still windy but
at least the snow was no longer blowing vertically. The cold didn't
bother dragons.

Eillispeth launched herself from her ledge with defiant cry: }: I
Rise, who can prove himself worthy of me! :{

His rider was left to plough his way to the pens on his own. The staff
just couldn't keep up with the snow.

Galerith had been keeping an eye on the deepening glow on her hide and
bugled a response: }: I do! :{ The large blue was going to be first,
he was going to win! In a weather like this, his size and strenght
gave him advantage over more flimsier blues. Of course, a brown or
bronze would have advantage over _him_. As Juth pointed out when he
joined Galerith.

Nirreth too answered her call. The bronze had been working with the green
closely later and admired her greatly. Her mating call fired his
veins and filled him with lust. His rider didn't actually share that
desire but the bronze ignored it. G'nir's reclutance wasn't
enough to pull the bronze out of the chase.

Treslith had been watching Eillispeth throughout the day, much like
Galerith and was ready when her call came. The blue was right in his
prime and felt that this particular pretty green belonged to him and
no one else. He may be smaller than most the other chasers so far, but
he was agile and he would catch less wind. }: I will prove myself :{
he thundered, uncharacteristically boisterous for such a small blue.
}: And do whatever it takes! :{

Treslith's rider T'vit was more than a little peeved at being called
out for a mating flight in this weather. Peeved and concerned, that
perhaps it was also a little dangerous to be out in this weather for
Treslith. He knew, though, that his objections would come to deaf
ears. **You make sure you win this, or I'll have your hide!** the
bluerider warned his amorous blue. If they won, that would at least
make up for the cold.

"Blood only!" E'naer reminded when arrived to the feedings pens.
Eillispeth viciously tore a part a wherry buck, the blood getting
soaked into the snow. That didn't left her much to suck in. **And stop
taking tips from Feral, she's bad example."
Eillispeth selected a new target.

Two more browns joined the crowd watching the beautiful green. Juvath
was young and eager, and emboldened by his recent win. Meanwhile
Z'then was horrified by the idea of winding up with his former
teacher. Juvath fluttered his wings as he waited for her to take off.

Iberath knew he had an advantage over younger less experienced
chasers, which some of the other males were. His rider would have
preferred a female green like Tavia, but he found that he was okay
with this either way. A flight would break the cold monotony.

Treslith hissed angrily at the two new rivals that joined the pack waiting for Eillispeth to rise. }:You can join the chase, to honor this lady, but you won't be the ones to bring her home!:{ he roared arrogantly.

Shoglenth might have been last to the party, but the blue ridden by D'nev was not going to miss out on the wonderful green prize at the end of the chase, not matter the weather. He postured, trying to attract her attention, even as his bundled up rider arrived at the pens.

Eillispeth finally had enough hot blood in her belly to warm her up and she launched to the air. The worst of the storm might be over but the winds were still strong. She used her experience to ride the wind, soon gaining an amazing speed.

Galerith was equally experienced and could ride the wind too, staying on the heels of the glowing green. Not only that, he knew how to preserve his energy in this weather.

Juth did not have their experience, so the brown just had to rely on his brute strenght.

Nirreth got into the air quickly, hot on pursuit. His size gave him advantage when navigating the strong winds. Heated by the lust, he ignored the blowing snow and bad visibility.

Treslith launched after the green, smartly positioning himself in such a manner that one of the larger chasers shielded him from the wind. He didn't want to spend energy where it wasn't necessary. The more energy he could save for the end of the flight, the better!

Eillispeth led them onwards, fast and agile. She was hit by sudden gust of wind. Experienced green just folded her wings and dropped down several hundred dragonlenghts before finding calmer wind and stopping her decent.

Juth felt a painful wrench in his wing shoulder when the wind hit him. It threw him off balance and he collided with another chaser.

Fast reflecses saved Nirreth from slamming into them. The bronze noted the increased snow fall and strenghtening winds. They had caught up with the stormfront. }: We caught up with the blizzard, this is getting dangerous!:{ Nirreth called out with all the authority he could muster. If he was struggling, the smaller dragons must be in dire trouble!

Treslith let out a cry of horror as the brown crashed in to him with full force. Was that idiot crazy!? His wonderful little idea of hiding from the wind behind the bigger chasers had backfired and the blue had to make a retreat, his right wing in terrible pain and unable to cope with the strong winds. }: I need help! :{ He cried out in fear now and no longer lust.

}: Here, :{ Nirreth's bronze dragon's instinct to protect the others won over his flight lust. }: Use me as support, I'll take you home.:{ He positioned himself below the blue so he could land on his back.

Juth too was in pain and his wrenched wing didn't work properly. He was still clear headed enough to /between/ back to Weyr, leaving his rider to break out of the circle of chasers and go to fetch a dragonhealer. One who wasn't involved in the Flight.

Treslith landed awkwardly on the bronze's dragon back, all thoughts of competition or even Eillispeth gone now he was focused on getting to the ground safely. His rider T'vit broke away from those still in the game and dashed off towards the dragon infirmary.

Nirreth took Treslith safely thru /between/ and back to the Weyr. Several blues also broke away from the chase, the winds getting too much for them.

Shoglenth however was determined to have his chance with this wily green. Neither the weather or the rest of the pack would put him off.

The wind was getting too much for Eillispeth too, and she turned around to find calmer weather. She flew straight into the waiting claws of Galerith. The clever blue had anticipated her move. }: You're mine now, lovely Eillispeth, :{ he crooned and twined his neck and tail with hers.
