C'rin

}:Dasveth, is your rider busy? Mine would like to see yours,:{ Savith
said to the younger brown dragon. Her rider had been thinking about
his a lot, she remembered. And she had a vague recollection of the
brown being nice to her.

}:My ledge is small but you could come share it. Or we could go
there,:{ she added.

Without checking with C'rin first, Dasveth replied, }: Come to our
weyr, there is plenty of room and my ledge has space.:{

}:We will be right there,:{ Savith said.

Riveenata didn't bother with straps, but just mounted Savith and let
the green find her way to C'rin's weyrledge. She dismounted and called
out, "C'rin?"

C'rin bolted upright at the sound of Riveenata's voice. **What tha?!**

}:Oh, Savith's rider is coming over.:{ Dasveth said.

**Thanks for the warning!** C'rin snarled mentally as he called out,
"Just a minute!"

In a mad dash, C'rin zoomed around his weyr snatching up tunics,
boots, empty cups and dumped them in an empty trunk that he snapped
firmly shirt before dashing out to the weyrledge.

"Riveenata, hi." He smiled.

She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and smiled when she saw him.
"He said it was alright if we dropped by. Hope you didn't have plans
for later?"

"No, I didn't, I'm glad you came by. I was just relaxing, we have some
rare free time today to get ready for the blooding party tonight."
Somewhere along the way it had become customary to go out on the beach
and share a few drinks and some laughter before going into a
Weyrling's first real Threafall.

C'rin invited Riveenata into his weyr with a tilt of his head.

"I really enjoyed mine," she said. "Are you going to stay up dancing all
night?"

C'rin took a seat on his couch, free of any clutter after his mad dash
around the weyr, "Probably not." He chuckled a little, "Dancing isn't
my favorite past time."

"What part of the event do you like, then?" she asked.

"The food of course," he said with his quiet grin. "And people
watching is usually pretty fun as well."

She laughed at that. "They do go all out for the food," she agreed.
The Headwoman always seemed to spoil the graduating weyrlings. She
wondered if Jayzine would keep it going.

"Will you be there?" he asked.

"I plan to be. I like parties," she said, thinking fondly of all the
times they'd helped her break out of her shell. "Food, dancing, a
chance to have a good evening with people."

"It's a good way to not think about tomorrow for a little while at
least." C'rin admitted.

"You'll be great," she said, flashing him a bright smile.

Riveenata's smile boosted C'rin's ego, "I hope so, with a dragonrider
father and mother I feel like it's expected of me."

"I know how that feels. Sometimes I think I wound up in the queen's
wing because they didn't want to put me in the wings where my parents
fly," she muttered. "I guess the holderkin get nervous about if
they'll do it right, but their parents can't judge like ours can."

"And their parents aren't here in person to fuss over them. Not that
my parents do, necessarily, they're pretty good about letting me be my
own person."

"It must be nice to have parents at home at the Holds where they can't
watch you." She sighed, imagining it. "That's good of them. I think my
father was happy all of us went into Crafts, and then I went and
Impressed. They fussed so much after that, but I think I finally have
them convinced I'm not fragile."

C'rin couldn't help it, his dark brown eyes swept over Riveenata
before landing on her face, "You don't look fragile to me."

She smiled at that. "Maybe before I Impressed. But maybe parents
always see their children as small."

Which sounded trite. She cleared her throat slightly and said, "So at
the party this evening, did you have any plans for after?"

"No plans," C'rin said, wondering whether this was an invitation.

"Want to spend the night together?" she asked.

Would he? There was no hesitation as he said, "I'd like that."

Riveenata leaned forward and kissed his cheek. "Then I'll be sure to
seek you out near the end of the party. Or if I don't see you, just
have Dasveth ask."

"I'll find you." He said, capturing her hand and giving it a squeeze of
promise.
