"Holder Reven? I'm pleased to meet you, I'm understeward Verran from Pine Creek Hold," Verran gave his best and most charming smile when he was led to the Holder's office. This was an opportunity for a promotion so he wanted to give his best impression. He was a handsome man with blond hair and blue eyes, so it wasn't that hard.
Reven stood and shook the other man's hand, looking him square in the eyes, "Good to meet you Verran. Please, have a seat." He gestured to a chair and then waved in the drudge who had been waiting outside the door with refreshment. "How was your trip?" Reven asked while pouring himself a cup of klah. "Please help yourself."
"Thank you. The trip was pleasant enough, the weather was generally favorable and the riverboat ride is always so relaxing," Verran replied. He poured himself a klah too before sitting down.
"Ah, the riverboat, it's been far too long since I've been on it." Perhaps a little night or two getaway on the riverboat could be arranged for him and Arippa.
"I warmly recommend it," Verran replied.
"So, Verran, tell me about yourself." Reven seated himself on his side of the desk, rocking back to study the other man as he spoke.
"I was born in Pine Creek Hold and I've been working as an assistant steward in Pine Creek Hold since I was fifteen or so. I was an apprentice Harper briefly before that. I'm married and I have just one child. The chances that I would become a Steward in Pine Creek Hold, well, won't happen in next twenty Turns or so. Therefore I'm looking for a new position that would also mean promotion to full steward. I'm well qualified," Verran replied. He already sent his letter of recommendations before hand.
Reven was looking at said recommendations, having had them laid on his desk for this meeting, "You are more than qualified," he agreed. Although he did not say it out loud, Reven felt that Green Valley would be lucky to have Verran. He was just what they needed. "Would you like to see what will be your quarters and office?"
"I would love to," Verran replied with a smile. So far he had liked of what he had seen of Green Valley. It was different region than Pine Creek, Pine Creek was more forrested, more rugged.
"Excellent. I'll introduce you to the Headwoman and some of the other Hold staff as we go so you'll have some familiar faces." Reven was excited at the prospect of having Verran, and he was sure that Green Valley would benefit greatly from their new Steward.
