W'ser

W'ser

W'ser glanced down at his schedule as he entered his office and began
scrubbing his hands. They'd had more work lately with the injured from
River Bluff along with their own typical Threadfall related injuries.
Normally he didn't get involved much any more unless it was a major
emergency, or something that required a Master's touch, but with the
dragons they now had in the infirmary, he was tending dragons daily
and letting hidework and other things pile up on his desk.

Today he had a few meetings scheduled, some with apprentice hopefuls,
others with River Bluff transfers who had been dragonhealers there.

Hands clean, W'ser rolled down his sleeves and buttoned them back into
place before tugging down his vest and sinking into his office chair.
The action felt heavily, releasing the tension and ache that had been
gathering in the small of his back after spending the entire morning
on his feet.

}:Your first meeting is here,:{ Branth informed, before returning to
aiding one of the injured browns out of the infirmary and into the
Weyrlake.

Erivana knocked on the door of the office and entered when called in.
"Weyrdragonhealer W'ser. I'm Erivana of River Bluff, I'm an Apprentice
Dragonhealer," she said, proffering her reconstructed one page record
to him.

"Excellent, have a seat." W'ser gestured, laying the record on his
desk. "How are things settling for you here at Dragonsfall?"

She settled into the chair and gave him her best polite smile. "I'm
glad to have arrived in the spring so I have time to experience all
the seasons before the coldest part of winter. I'm also excited for
Chioneth's clutch."

"Clutches always do bring excitement to the Weyr," and hope. "I hope
you like snow, Dragonsfall gets plenty of it." W'ser didn't mind, he'd
grown up with it.

"I am looking forward to getting to know it better," she said. "It's
very different here, but I choose to have hope that it will bring me
good fortune."

"So tell me, what experiences have you had in the infirmary?" W'ser
could have just looked at the paper she'd given him, but he liked
getting to know the people that would be working under him.

"The usual, I suppose. I'm conversant on dragon anatomy, I've a good
hand with copying and drawing diagrams and parts," she added with
pride. She'd often helped make reproductions of wounds for a dragon's
care file.

"I've assisted in tasks like making poultices for wound care and as
complicated as stitching up tears in a dragon's side, though as an
apprentice I was never allowed to work on wing tears. Outside of just
carrying items as needed," she added. After all, that was such a
complicated repair and apprentices weren't often permitted it.

"Sounds like all you're waiting on then is your dragon." It was a
tough place for apprentice dragonhealers. He'd some some with
incredibly, almost prodigious talent, but they couldn't continue
forward in the craft because they'd never Impressed.

"I don't know what I'll do with myself if I don't Impress at this clutch."

"It's easy for me to say but don't borrow trouble just yet. That's a
bridge to be crossed down the road." W'ser advised.

"That's true," she admitted. "What tasks would you like to assign me for
now?"

"I'll assign you to working with Journeyman Embras, she will guide you
further." W'ser informed her. "It was nice to meet you, Erivana, and
even under the circumstances, I am happy to have you here."

"Journeyman Embras, got it," she repeated. "I appreciate you taking a
moment to meet with me directly, sir. I know there's a lot of us to
talk to," she added.

"Anytime."
