Jaylene

Jaylene

J'nne was sitting dazed and more than a little surprised as his new lifemate hungerily gulped down his first meal. Tribeth's bronze hide gleamed within the sea of his brown, blue and green clutchmates.

"Wow J'nne."

J'nne looked up in time to see his sister slide down into the bench opposite him, her eyes shinning. "What do you think?" he teased.

"I...I..." She blinked heavily and shrugged her shoulders. J'nne could see the tears welling up in her eyes. Before she could say anything more, a new voice interrupted. "Da would have been so proud."

They both looked up to see their third sibling, J'zen standing behind J'nne. Beside him was their mother, who had streaks of tears flowing down her cheeks.

"J'nne, he's beautiful!" She reached down to gently hug her youngest, careful not to upset the little bronze.

Uetia pushed thru the crowd. "Excuse me, excuse me." Big size did have it's advantages.
She reached the new weyrlings. "Jayonne! I knew you could do it!"

"J'nne now, young miss," Jaylene teased, patting the empty seat beside her. "It's the best seat for Tribeth watching."

The small bronze cocked his head at the sound of his name and burped.

"A bronze," Uetia grinned. She was not surprised at all. She wanted so much to go and hug and kiss him (and not give him any brotherly peck either but a proper kiss.) She was painfully aware he was off limits for next months now. Uetia sat down next to Jaylene. "So worried and proud at the same time?"

Jaylene waved her hand. "Proud, worry is an emotion of the future." Before she could say more, a soft croon diverted her attention. "What do you think Reanth?" She asked her sea green lifemate.

}:He's fat:{

With a roll of her eyes Jaylene told the others what Reanth had said.

"I think you will find the word is plumb, lovely girl," J'zen said.

"Robust," Uetia suggested. "Besides, he's just gorging himself after starving inside that egg." **What do you think of him?** she asked with mental nudge from Sirjath.

}: Who? :{ Sirjath replied and Uetia sighed. Her green just didn't care unless she was nearing Rising-time.

}:Did she say I'm gorging? I'm not gorging, I'm merely eating my first dinner:{ Tribeth informed his lifemate. J'nne repeated the little bronze's words.

Uetia chuckled. "At least he seems to have the personality to mach his colour."

"That indeed," J'nne laughed as Tribeth swatted at a fire lizard that got closer to his dinner than he would have liked. Another burb and the tiny bronze's eyes visibly drooped.

"You're not going to carry him, are you?" Uetia asked with a grin. The bronze hatchling was bigger than her Sirjath had been.

"Farenth no!" J'nne laughed. "Come on, little man, we've still got to get your cleaned off and to your bed. Which is not here, in case you were confused."

Tribeth's response was to give his lifemate a sardonic glance before shuffling out the way that Reanth directed. With a cheerful wave, J'nne followed the two dragons.

"Well, that's that," Jaylene said. "And I think I need a drink. You coming?" She asked Uetia as she stood up.

"You bet, this demands a proper celebration," Uetia replied.

"Particularly as you can't touch him for months now," J'zen added and he steered the women towards the drinks. He placed a glass of sparkling wine in each of the three women's hands. "This is for J'nne and little Tribeth!"

"For J'nne and Tribeth!" Uetia echoed and clicked the rim of her glass with his. "You know, he has it easier, he'll be too busy and too tired, being a weyrling."

"Okay, too much information." Jaylene clapped her hands over her mother's ears and rolled her eyes at Uetia.

"What, that was totally not-informative," Uetia replied and toasted at her.
