Description: Savith rises
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 1, day 25 of Turn 9
It was a bright sunny day, the kind of warm weather that was made for
luxuriating outside, and Riveenata couldn't even enjoy it because of
Savith. The green dragon's hide was shimmering brightly and she was
curled on the Rim, flirting with the males. Tearing her away from her
flirting to ride their assigned sweep patrol was difficult, and the
green had trouble focusing on it because she was flirting at her blue
partner.
Savith chose dusk as the right time to scream her challenge and fling
herself into the animal pens, tearing into a wherry and sucking the hot
blood down, greedily.
Riveenata rushed to the flight cots, relieved that Savith was finally
going up. The warm headiness of flightlust was rushing through her and
she was glad. She'd spent enough time miserable, she wanted this feeling
instead.
Rahmuth roared his intention to chase and claim this green, glowing beauty.
He was not the only one. Mareloth had been keeping an eye on her since
the morning and now informed his rider that he was going to chase her.
Dasveth, for a young dragon, watched Savith patiently, his whirling
eyes focused on her every movement. The brown's haunches were taunt,
compressed and waiting to spring the moment the glowing green took to
the skies.
R'nar was relieved that Iorath was going to chase, because it got him
out of his current wing drills, after all, the dragons decided, right?
There was a grin on the young bronzerider's face as he leapt from
Iorath's neckridge and made quick work of undoing his lifemate's
straps.
}:Quickly, quickly.:{ Iorath was chanting impatiently, eyes trained on
Savith.
Savith felt energized as soon as the hot blood was done being sucked
down her throat. She threw her head back to bugle her challenge a
second time, and spread her wings wide to display their color to the
best possible advantage.
}:Who dares to chase me? You will have to be fast and cunning,:{ the
green called before throwing herself into the air.
Right behind her followed several chasers. Chaneth had seen the green
glowing and decided to chase her, since the blue was now not
overseeing any weyrlings and his rider was at dinner. Rogueth also
leapt after her, having not participated in many flights since his
grounding, and he recognized this green and was interested in pursuing
her.
Mnoranth thrust his bulk into the sky behind the faster dragons. While
Tonuth flew almost next to him. The younger bronze was extremely
confident when chasing greens.
Savith first arrowed straight upwards, aiming for height so she could
survey the territory around the Weyr. Should she go out to sea where
she could skim the waves? Or head inland along the rich foliage? She
decided on the latter path, heading westward to chase the setting sun.
She turned her head around to peer behind here. There was a good crop
of chasers. And such a nice distribution of blues and browns and
bronzes! It would be a good selection to pick from.
"Feck!" R'nar cursed aloud as the green rose and Iorath took off, with
one last strap still partially hanging on, trailing through the air
behind him as he joined the chase. **There goes a new strap...** The
young bronzerider only had a moment to be regretful before he dashed
on to the flight room.
Dasveth leapt from his place atop the Weyr, eager to be close to
Savith, his rider's own feelings urged him to win this flight.
Mareloth launched himself to the air. He was seasoned bronze and felt
himself confident and strong.
}: Be mine, I can fly you well, :{ Rahmuth tried his luck with
appealing to her. There was lot of chasers today and the increase in
numbers meant decrease in chances of success.
}:Prove it!:{ she challenged, diving lower to skim among the trees and
confuse some of the males in the pack, bobbing and weaving, then
arcing back up into the sky to gain height again. She was wild,
untouchable, luxuriating in the feeling of the wind under her wings.
She would fly free and not be claimed.
Mareloth relied on his strenght and greater stamina, not bothering to
follow her every twist and turn. He was still keeping up to her.
Iorath was too large to follow Savith into the trees so he skimmed
above the treeline until she appeared. Wasn't she glorious? He was
determined to have her.
While Iorath was fawning over Savith, Dasveth was doing his best to
jostle past some of the other males in the pack to get close to the
green.
Aughashyth didn't follow down into trees but waited for them all to
rise out of cover. He could see enough of them to skim along above the
fray. When she arrowed back up into the sky he was right on her tail.
Xemroth was annoyed to have so many other bronzes in the chase. He
stayed away from the treetops and followed Savith when she darted up,
but other bronzes had done the same and he didn't gain any ground. He
rumbled in annoyance and twisted past an older brown. }:I am the best
and strongest!:{
There were so many coming after her, and Savith preened at the
attention. Many bronzes were following her! It made her feel like a
one of the golds when she saw that she had more than five bronzes, all
after her. What a thrill for _her_ to pull their eye!
And then there were other promising males as well. Some blues closer
to her size, who were actually following her stunts. Some dragons she
knew well and she was sure they could show her a good time. Others
were new and could impress her.
Her wings began to tire and she knew she had to pick one. She turned
herself to go towards a brown she recognized, and then flew
accidentally into the path of Mareloth, a bronze that she didn't know
at all.
}:Mine! :{ Mareloth trumpeted jubilantly when he twined his neck and
tail with Savith. His strategy had paid off and he had managed to
anticipate her moves.
On the ground, G'ran picked Riveenata up to carry her to the mating
cot. She was one of the new riders, from River Bluff, that was all he
knew about her.
Rahmuth was disappointed when he turned back to the Weyr. His riders
just shrugged it off and found himself a flight month.
