Description: Jeyme's Quinneth rises for the first time since her return to Dolphin Cove
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 10 of Turn 9
Quinneth's screech could be heard as it reverberated through the Weyr.
The faintest touch of dawn's rosy fingertips brushed the tops of the
Star Stones. The deep green female lunged at the Feeding Pens, sending
the beasts scattering as she drove her talons into her first victim.
She fed quickly, even as her rider shrugged into her robe, covering
her thin, white sleeping gown that reached just to her mid thigh.
"Why so early?" Jeyme wondered as she stepped into her sandals and
trudged to the flight rooms.
Rogueth's head whipped up as he heard a dragon's challenge echo
through the Weyrbowl. He knew this green, she flew with him. He liked
this green. He was going to chase this green. The bronze dove down at
the feeding pens to blood as well, while watching her intently.
A blue dragon also heard the call and went to watch her. Chaneth liked
chasing young, healthy greens, and he would blood and chase.
The screech, still familiar to the bronze's mind, brought Yumath
immediately out of a doze. His head flew up and without warning, he
burst out of his weyr and off his ledge, landing above the feeding
grounds to watch with a rumble of anticipation.
His rider, on the other hand, was not as pleased at Yumath's decision
to chase. He had been taking an early morning bath and having to
scramble into the cooler air to quickly towel off to tug clothing on a
still damp body was not how he had wanted to start the day. It wasn't
until he reached the flight area that he realized exactly _who_ his
bronze was chasing. No amount of cursing would deter the bronze, whose
focus had sharpened on Quinneth with rising excitement. Hair still
dripping and his face stony, he took his place in the forming circle
around Jeyme.
Jeyme couldn't help the feeling of amusement that rose within her when
she glanced behind her. There was her current Wingleader, her former
Weyrling teacher, and ex-weyrmate just to list a few. There were a
couple of younger faces there, a bronzerider and brownrider that she
didn't recognize. She closed her eyes and joined completely with
Quinneth, feeling the hot flecks of herdbeast blood as if it were
really upon her cheeks and chin.
Dasveth crowded among the other dragons, eager to begin. He cut his
eyes sideways and grumbled at the sight of Iorath also there. It
seemed whenever he flew a green the bronze was there too.
Quinneth tossed aside the last bit of carcass and then shot into the
sky, causing Jeyme to take a wobbly step backward as an exhilarating
rush flooded through her body.
Chaneth might be a large blue, and older in age, but he was still out
of the pen and into the air faster than most of the bronzes and
browns. }:Lovely Quinneth, fly far and then choose well,:{ he
exhorted.
It was always awkward to see someone he'd trained, but that was just
how flights were. On the ground, L'pin closed his eyes, accepting
whatever would come of the flight.
Thadath was late to the feeding pens, and he'd just struck down a
wherry and begun to suck at it when the green flung herself into the
air. He rapidly drank the rest of the hot blood and then took off in
quick pursuit of the green. No word were spoken yet, he didn't need
them.
Rogueth was slower than Chaneth and faster than Thadath. He was
learning how she flew and hoped that his observations of her in his
wing would give him an advantage. He sensed that his rider was
reluctant about this chase. His rider was almost never happy when he
chased, but something about the fact that this was his wingthird's
green was bothering his rider. But that would change as the flight
wore on.
Yumath followed quickly after, his eyes locked on the green with
fervor. Unlike those around him, he knew the little green well, and
was able to search through his rider's mind for the memories of the
pair of them. He bugled as she took to the sky, sending ripples of
affection and lust towards her.
Iorath found it harder than he had anticipated to keep close to
Quinneth, she was small and wily and twisted easily through the air,
weaving patterns that he had a hard time following.
Quinneth crowed at her own prowess as the young bronze was shaken off
course and fell off, out of the chase. She didn't want a mate with
wings so fresh, she wanted a mate that knew how to fly a green. She
knew Rogueth well, they worked together, and then her rider had
memories of both Chaneth's rider and Yumath's. The memories of
Yumath's rider were the strongest.
}:Gotcha!:{ Dasveth lunged, but was a bit overeager in his attempt to
snare the green.
}:Think again!:{ She hissed, easily ducking his advance and sending
him spiraling off course.
Thadath was intent on following after her, but his wings began to tire
and soon he dropped out of the chase as well. R'kehr moved off to find
consolation with a moth.
Rogueth didn't try to mimic every acrobatic move she made, so he flew
more straight but he stayed close enough that he could lunge for her.
}:We fly well together already, Quinneth. Choose me,:{ he called.
Chaneth followed may of her moves, thinking his agility would make him
more favorable to her than the bronzes. }:I will show you a long
flight,:{ he promised, sending his lust and intentions to her.
Older bronze wings surged forward, flying higher and just a little
behind Quinneth. Yumath watched with patience, still sending out deep
rumbles of desire and images of them twining together. Additionally,
he pulled from his rider's present mental state, sending images of his
rider and hers twined together with just as much lust and passion.
Quinneth found blue Chaneth's offer enticing, she did like blues, but
it was a familiar bronze neck that twined about hers, and it was with
an excited trumpet that she locked talons with Yumath.
Rogueth and Chaneth both called their disappointment as the enticing
green turned into the path of a different dragon, and was claimed. On
the ground, their riders moved out of the group of men surrounding
her. L'pin turned into the arms of someone waiting, while K'ran left
the area entirely.
D'hol strode forward, his mind entirely enmeshed with Yumath and
uncaring who it was that he had caught. He scooped Jeyme up carried
her to a flight cot.
