Characters: Uetia, R'ien
Description: Sirjath rises, and banter soon follows.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 3, day 7 of Turn 9
This time Uetia didn't get lost on her way to feeding pens, where
Sirjath was already blooding her kill and calling males to her. It was
time to Rise again, their second time in Dragonsfall Weyr. This time
Uetia wasn't hampered by the sling and she was determined to enjoy
herself.
}:Oh, hello,:{ Donovath suddenly said from where he was perched.
**What?** R'ien asked distractedly.
}:There's a green going up.:{
**You usually chase once a month, so why is this so- Wait, do you
_have_ to do this while I'm trying to compile these reports?** the
Wingsecond asked in exasperation.
}:You could use a break:{ Donovath replied with almost annoying optimism.
**You're lucky I love you, you patchwork excuse of a dragon,** R'ien
sighed, and got up from his desk to head over to the flight rooms.
}:Love you too!:{
When Sirjath decided she had enough chasers and enough blood from the
herdbeast, she tossed the drained carcass aside and launched into the
air.
Donovath didn't even bother to come off his perch; he vaulted off it
the second he saw Sirjath go up, hoping for an advantage in height
over the other browns, blues, and the few bronzes who had also
gathered about. }:Choose me, and I'll please you, and my rider will
please yours,:{ he entreated, keeping a steady pace for the time
being.
Sirjath led them to a merry chase around the countryside. Dipping in
and out of clouds, the occasional rain shower was not slowing her down
at all. She was fast and strong in the air. The first one to drop out
was some young blue whose name she didn't even know.
Eventually she reached the limit of her strenght and started to
consider her options. She was tempted to go for someone new this time.
Oh! Oh oh oh there was his chance! Donovath summoned the energy
conserved by his careful pacing and shot forward, reaching out for
Sirjath with an excited warble. She would be his, if only this once!
Sirjath was bit surprised and then quite pleased, what a clever brown!
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The lighting was dim in the flight weyr. He must have forgotten to
turn on the lights. Well, that was okay. Some partners preferred dim
lights; it made them feel more secure. Sometimes R'ien felt compelled
to give a compliment because of that, to try to alleviate some of that
shyness. That, and it was just good manners to say something nice
about your flight partners if niceness had occurred.
He opened his eyes and let them adjust, finding himself on one side of
the bed, but still close to the greenrider involved. He could feel
their warmth, and he let himself bask in it for a moment.
Uetia drifted back to conciousness. She stretched a bit and then
opened her eyes. She couldn't even see who it was this time, it was so
dim. "Is it night or did someone close the glowbasket?" She couldn't
be sure how long she had slept after the Flight.
R'ien rolled into his side to face her, propping his head up on his
fist. "I forgot to turn on the lights. My apologies," he said, looking
the greenrider over. She was a handsome woman, in his opinion. "Your
green flew very well. Donovath enjoyed himself." If the tired and
smugly elated emotions he was getting from his brown were any
indication, anyway. "I did too."
"Thank you, we enjoyed ourselves too," Uetia replied and pulled
herself to sitting position. She didn't even bother to cover her body.
He had already seen all of it so why even pretend modesty. Her eyes
glazed when she checked Sirjath. Her green was happily curled with her
current mate and radiating satisfaction. "Yes, she's very happy with
him."
R'ien sat himself up as well, stretching carefully. "Do you need
anything? A snack, something to drink?" he offered.
"A drink would be nice," Uetia asked. "So, what's your name?" she
asked. She was pretty sure she hadn't talked with him before. There
was still plenty of people she had not met during her three months in
Dragonsfall.
His eyes having adjusted, R'ien got his pants and undergarments from
the floor and pulled them back on. "I'm R'ien, Azure rider." He found
the lights and flipped them on, finding a table already set out with
two pitchers and some goblets. Ancients bless the drudges who had
taken care of that. "Looks like we have juice and wine. Which would
you like- oh, sorry, I forgot to ask your name," he apologized again.
"I'll take juice. I'm Uetia, currently at the queen's wing," Uetia replied.
Queens' Wing? She didn't seem injured. Hopefully everything was all
right- But it wasn't his business or good manners to ask about that,
so R'ien just nodded. "Well met, Uetia," he said as he poured the
juice. "And before I forget to ask, do you need any healer's
attention?" He hadn't thought he had been rough, but sometimes flights
were like that.
Uetia snorted and laughed. "Well, that's a first time. Do you need one?"
The Wingsecond cracked up. "Wow, okay. That will teach me to be nice
to you," he joked with a smile to make it clear he was kidding, and
handed over a goblet. "Can I share that with my best friend? It'll
make him fall off his chair laughing."
"Sure, I don't mind," Uetia grinned.
R'ien toasted her with his goblet in thanks and had a drink. This
encounter had turned out more pleasant than anticipated.
}:I told you you needed a break,:{ Donovath teased.
**Well, you may have been right.**
"So, what do you want to do now? I still have plenty of dragonlust
left to burn," Uetia asked with suggestive tone. She was ready for a
second round, she was just not very good with seductive behaviour. It
was easier just to ask.
Fortunately for Uetia, R'ien wasn't good at it either, no matter that
his weyrmate said otherwise; thus, he appreciated the straightforward
question. **Donovath?**
}:It's still early enough,:{ the brown said, knowing exactly what his
rider meant. }:You could finish the reports after dinner?:{
**Thanks.** R'ien finished his juice and set the goblet aside. "Well,
I've never left a partner wanting before, so I'm not starting now," he
said. "Besides, I like how you kiss; it would be foolish if I passed
up the chance for more of that." He sat back on the bed and held out
an inviting hand.
Uetia took that hand and pulled him closer for a kiss. "A man of my
liking," she purred.
