G'nir had told the Weyrlings to put on their best and groom
themselves, he wanted them to look good on this grand day, the day of
their graduation.
G'nir himself looked very much like the member of the Blood he was,
refined and elegant.

The weylings were gathering outside the dining cavern and G'nir told
them to form a line. "Do try to look like respectable riders," he
asked. They really had been a good bunch of weyrlings, few incidents
not withstanding, he reflected.

"We're so proud of you," E'naer wore a large smile, and as usual, he
was trying to soften the blow of G'nir's rigid manners.

D'kere passed along between the Weyrlings, offering congratulations
and pats on the back, feeling proud of them as he always did when
another group was ready to graduate. He hadn't known if being a
Weyrlingmaster's Second would be for him back when the position had
first been offered, but he had found himself almost unable to imagine
doing anything else at this point. Molding future dragonriders was a
rewarding thing.

Tarley felt incredibly emotional. She was very much ready to graduate
into a fighting Wing, but her thoughts were on her parents, who
perished in the River Bluff earthquake. She wished that they could be
there to see her now. Tarley was sure that her uncle T'kev would be
there, but it wasn't the same.

Satisfied with their looks, G'nir led the weyrlings to the Dining
hall, where the Weyrleaders and wingleaders were waiting. Wings had
pulled tables together to form long tables where they sat to wait the
new ones to join their ranks.

"Weyrwoman, Weyrleader, may I present you Chioneth's month one's
class, ready to be graduated."

R'enh smiled as the graduating class trooped into the room. From his
place, at the table, he could see the eager faces and remembered his
own graduation. He never got tired of these moments that marked a
dragonrider's life. Each and every one of them was special and needed.
"Welcome," he joined the other leaders and stood to applaud as they
found their places.

"S'lan, rider of brown Wazath," G'nir called and waited until the boy
had taken a step forward.

"You will be joining us in Cerulean Wing. Not as weyrling, but full
wingrider and staff assistant," he announced. He took the weyrling
knots from his shoulders and replaced them with wing riders' knots.

"Thank you sir," S'lan smiled proudly at all the leaders. He was a
slight and gangly boy but very proud of his lifemate his Wazath has
grown as large as many of the mature browns. He was hungering to fly
in the fighting wings but S'lan knew it would still be another Turn
before they could. He marched over to join the others in his group.

Saibra always felt proud, whether the graduates were products of her
queen or another when it came time to have the Weyrlings join the
fighting Wings. The Weyrwoman had been watching this group and had
found one Weyrling in particular that she felt would add to the
strength of Sienna Wing. Leaving her chair, Saibra took the knots
she'd brought with her, "Erivana of Green Seryth, I am pleased to
welcome you to Sienna Wing."

Erivana wanted to scan the room to find Eridhiya at the wing tables to
catch her mother's reassuring gaze, or to look over at her friends in
the class to be excited. But she didn't want to fidget or otherwise
look unwomanly. But instead, she faced forward, holding herself in a
perfect posture, just like her mother trained her.

The brown-haired greenrider wasn't hoping for a particular wing. She'd
seen Wingleaders and their Seconds observing the drills for the last
few sevendays. She knew they were evaluating who they'd take. She'd
spoken to a couple, but nobody had interviewed her more than once, so
she had no idea if anyone was particularly interested in her.

It came to her as a surprise when the Weyrwoman came up to her
specifically with her knots and presented them. She drew herself up
even stiffer of spine and gave the proper salute and response.
"Weyrwoman Saibra, Seryth and I are honored to join your wing."

K'reyel watched as the new wingriders received their knots, his mind as
always going back to the day he and Erdenth had joined the wings. He rose,
walking over to the younger greenrider, knots held out ready. "Tarley, I'd
be honoured to fly with you in my wing. Welcome to Azure Wing."

Tarley couldn't believe it, well, scratch that, she couldn't believe a
couple of things. First, the Weyrleader knew her _name_, but of course
he did, he was the leader of the Weyr, he would know all the dragon
and rider names, but still. And second, that she had been chosen for
the Weyrleader's Wing, even though all Wings and positions were
important, there was still that prestige that came with being
hand-picked by the Weyrleader himself.

"Thank you, sir," she took the knots in her hand.

S'lan clapped hard for Tarley, she'd really worked hard and had gotten
a great placement because of it. "Go Tarley," he called.

J'nne grinned when Tarley was chosen. She more than deserved her new
position. Unconsciously he straightened his tunic, feeling a flutter
in his stomach. Where would he and Tribeth go to? Were they to go to
Cyan Wing, his sister Jaylene would be his new 'third. Or if he went
to the Cobalt wing he'd have Uetia as his 'third. Again,
unconsciously, he fidgeted with the helm of his tunic, as he waited.
One by one, they weyrlings got their placements while G'nir watched.

E'naer felt slightly sad and very proud of them. It must felt same for
a mother to watch her children to grow up and move out.

D'ale stood and held Cyan wingriders knots "J'nne," he called and met
the young man's eyes with a smile. "Welcome to Cyan."

Applause rippled through the gathered dragonriders as the last of the
graduates were inducted into the Wings. The spell seemed to break and
talking commenced as wingriders began moving forward to congratulate
the new riders on their placements.

G'nir felt satisfaction knowing that he had guided one more class of weyrlings into the Fighting wings.
