Description: G'nir comes to check on a Threaded Rorela
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 10, day 19 of Turn 9
G'nir would have come earlier, but he had stay with the weyrlings. It
was only second time they experienced Threadfall and first time they
heard dragon keen for losses during the Fall. It was hard to predict
how they would react to it and the Weyrling wing's staff had to stay
with them.
Once he got to the Infirmary, he stopped the by pulling him from the
sleeve Weyrhealer. "Where is she, how is she?"
"Who she?" Taren asked with annoyed tone and pulled his sleeve free.
Two deaths and several injuries later, he was exhausted and irritable.
"Rorela, Upinth's rider," G'nir clarified.
"Over there," Taren pointed towards cubicle. Curtains were drawn
closed around it.
"Thank you," G'nir replied.
When he found Rorela, she seemed to be asleep. Knowing how important
rest was to injured rider, G'nir didn't want to wake her up. He just
pulled himself a chair and sat next to her bed.
After a long moment just gazing her face, he reached to take her hand.
At the touch of a hand on hers, Rorela roused, eyes fluttering open.
The light dose of fellis that she had been given allowed her to sleep,
not too deeply, but she was grateful for it. The sight of a male hand
clasping hers was unexpected and as her gaze slid upwards, there was
relief as she found G'nir's face. Her eyes immediately warmed; she
hadn't known if he'd come. "Hello, bronze man." Her fingers tightened
against his.
"Hey, pretty, I didn't want to wake you up," G'nir replied, speaking
softly so not to disturb other patients.
"I was just dozing. The healers say that it's good for me." She
stroked her thumb against his. "I'm glad you woke me up. Im glad
you're here. " She looked down at the bandages on her chest, then back
at him. "Guess I'll be off duty for a few sevendays."
"You just had to go and get yourself Scored," G'nir said and leaned to
kiss her forehead. "I would have come earlier but we had to comfort
the weyrlings...well, the dragonets mostly."
"First time for everything. I never did do anything halfway..." The
reminder of why the dragonets had to be comforted was painful and she
hurriedly brushed her free hand over her eyes before tears spilled.
She nodded. "Yeah. I didn't know if you'd come. "
"Of course I would come," G'nir said tenderly.
She nodded, then looked at him solemnly. "I still have some of my
boobs left. But they won't be as pretty."
"It's not your boobs I love," G'nir said. "Although I admit they've
were pretty sight."
"And they won't be anymore." She paused, then her eyes widened as his
first sentence finally clicked in her brain. "Huh?" She eyed him
before smiling, shaking her head. "G'nir, don't joke. You don't love
me. You like me. There's a difference."
"Let's get back to that when you're feeling better and aren't drugged
with fellis," G'nir replied. "Let's just say, that while I do enjoy
watching your boobs, they're not the only thing that attracts me to
you."
Rorela's eyebrows furrowed just a little, but she agreed that her mind
was to fuzzy too tackle much else besides simple concepts. "Okay. "
She studied his face. "I like your face. And your butt. Did the
weyrlings make it through okay"
"They were shocked by the two death's in a Fall. It's never easy to
face one's mortality. They'll be alright," G'nir replied. He stroked
the back of her hand.
"They were my friends, G'nir." Tears suddenly sprang to her eyes and
she covered them with her free hand. She caught her breath and began
to softly weep for their loss.
"I know," G'nir replied and moved sit on the bed, so he could just
hold her when she cried. "I know."
She leaned against him, burying her face in his shoulder and taking
comfort in his warmth. After having that good, necessary cry, she
looked up at him and sniffled. "Stupid fellis making me all weepy. "
She looked at his shirt and wiped at the dampness. "I got you all wet."
"I'm tough bronzerider, I'll survive little wet," G'nir said and
stroked her hair. "Now, go back to sleep. Taren starts look like he's
going to kick me out of the infimary."
Rorela nodded, then looked up. " Will you come back?"
"Yes, tomorrow," G'nir promised.
She gave a sigh, releasing him to lay back. "You better."
