Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 11, day 10 of Turn 9

"It's the same sand and bowl where you clutched last time and time
before that," E'naer said with amusement, watching his egg heavy
firelizard fuss over her nesting place. She made an indignant chirp.
Aes, the Weyrhealer's bronze, was hovering nearby so E'naer presumed
he was the father this time.
E'naer had pretty much missed the mating flight, busy as he had been
with the new weyrlings. Although he and G'wen had later taken
advantage of the feelings it had generated.
Satisfied with the hole she had dug to sand, Feral turned and
positioned herself to clutch. Aes started to humm and suddenly the
weyr seemed to be filled with firelizard, all making that expecting,
welcoming humm.
With flits seemingly covering every free space, E'naer decided to
escape it and go for a klah.
When he returned a candlemark later, Feral was still at it. Five eggs
were arranged into a neat circle. Feral was taking a break, lapping
water from nearby dish E'naer had arranged for her. Her gaze met
E'naer's. ~~ Stay, watch, ~~ the intensity of the emotion which came
with her message took E'naer by surprise. Something was going on,
something out of the ordinary.
He pulled himself a chair (chasing off few firelizards perching on it)
and sat down to wait and see. The expecting humm intensified when
Feral returned to lay another egg. Once it was out, pretty light green
marble patterned one, she rolled it into a same circle with the
previous ones. She was clearly leaving a space in the middle. Space
for what? E'naer's heart was suddenly hammering with excitement. Three
more eggs followed, each of them carefully positioned to the sand
bowl. Feral was starting to look almost her normal, slender self. But
it was not over yet. Aes was starting to look smug when Feral took the
clutching stance again. This was it, the last egg, the one they all
were waiting for, E'naer knew that somehow. Or maybe he picked it up
from the firelizards around him.
It seemed to take a forever for Feral to squeeze out that last egg.
Plop and it was there, slightly wet looking, shining and reflecting
the lights. A gold egg. Feral carefully placed it to the middle of her
nest. The chorus of firelizards gave it their welcome and then, as the
show was now over, all the extra flits disappeared, returning to their
humans. Aes stayed, preening proudly. Feral gave him tired: who do you
think did all the hard work? -look. She curled around to the eggs and
fell to an exhausted sleep. Aes settled down to guard them.
"Well done, Feral, I'm so proud of you," E'naer said in almost
reverent whisper and then let out a loud whoop.
He went to get his straps, "This calls for celebration. Tell Neath's
that I'm going to fetch sparkling wine from Vintner Hall."
