Ninaine

W'ser left the office a little earlier than usual in order to make a
personal call to Ninaine's weyr. He had to consult Branth twice to
make sure that he made it to the correct weyr since she had moved. As
he came in through the weyrcouch, he dipped his head in greeting to
Luneth, his eyes assessing her as he walked by.

"Hello the weyr," he called out as he entered, waiting for his eyes to
adjust to the change in light.

"I'm in here." Ninaine's voice called out, welcoming him. Sitting on
her chair, her feet dutifully propped up, she set aside her
embroidery, the only thing that she could really do at the moment
without going insane with boredom. "Please come in, W'ser."

"Ninaine," he smiled warmly at the green rider. "How are you feeling?"
The Weyrdragonhealer asked as he took a seat near her, his eyes
looking over the embroidery that she had been working on.

"Bored, bloated and fat. I'm on bed rest." She replied. "Thank you for
coming. I wanted to talk about Luneth with you."

W'ser winced sympathetically when she said the words "bed rest." The
brownrider's was an active person, he could not imagine being confined
to his bed or to sitting for days on end.

"Is she feeling alright?" he asked.

"She's fine. She's feeling very well actually." Ninaine looked out to
the weyrledge, where Luneth was avidly listening. "That's what I
wanted to talk about. After the babies are born, I want to work on
getting her back to a fighting wing."

W'ser had heard those words from many retired riders over the course
of his time as a dragonhealer. Talwynn has done it, and it was a
chance he felt every dragon, and rider, should have.

"It won't be easy and in the end, she may never be well enough to fly
Thread." He warned, hesitant to give hope to only have it dashed
later.

"She's been practicing flying." Ninaine admitted. "I can't rider her
right now, obviously, but she rose too. We weren't certain about her
ability to do it, but she did. She did cramp at the end and it was
short, but maybe it's because she hadn't been flying much. Her bone
doesn't ache just the muscles. I want to try. She wants to try." She
took a breath. "I hate feeling useless. Yes, I help with the
Weyrlings, but I can't help with flying or /betweening/ or anything
like that." And with N'call gone, she didn't want the extra time to
think.

"After you have recovered from delivery, we can start working with the
two of you flying together again. In the mean time, Luneth can come
down each day for some exercise and flying with Branth." He took a
breath. "If all that goes well, the step after that would be for the
two of you to practice drills with the senior Weyrlings. If you can
pass Weyrling drills then you could start out in the Queen's Wing
flying half falls."

"I could help with the Blooding if she gets stronger during drills."
Ninaine remembered her own and remembered the fear associated it. "It
could help. Luneth will be happy flying with Branth. She would like
the company. She's...she's used to Haloth being around."

W'ser had wondered if N'call's departure had played a role in
Ninaine's determination to fly again. It also made him realize how
lonely it must be for her, alone at the Weyr, and on bed rest no less.

}:You can join me any time you wish, Luneth.:{ Branth extended the
offer toward the green.

"You know, if you need anything while N'call is away you can send for
me any time. If you would rather have a woman's help, my weyrmate,
Sasima, works in the lower caverns. I'm sure she wouldn't mind."

"N'call isn't coming back, W'ser. He's not just away. He transferred."
It was hard admitting that. Lifting her chin, she felt her
stubbornness dig in. "I have to be able to /between/ and fight if I
ever want to be with him again. I can't even /between/ to visit." She
refused to cry again like she had in front of J'lor. "I'm fine. I
just...I just want something to concentrate on right now."

W'ser cast an eye at the swell of her stomach. "You will have two
things to focus on very soon. Until then, when Luneth goes out to
exercise and fly with Branth, close your eyes and go with her."

"I know..." She nodded. "I can do that. Thank you, W'ser. I miss
flying with her, riding her. I know it sounds silly, especially with
what we were like as weyrlings, but...I want that with her again."

"It's not silly at all," W'ser assured her. "Flying is an intimate
bond between a dragon and their rider."

Ninaine slowly nodded. "And...I need that. I really need that right now."

"If I could speed the process up for you, I would," he said, glad that
he had never been forced to worry about if he and Branth would fly
together again.

"Well, just help me, W'ser. " Ninaine pleaded softly. "To get her
ready and able, if we can."

"I will do everything I can," he promised her.
