Teseada

Teseada sat studying the little packet of tea, the tea that mostly stopped
conception. It seemed such a simple thing. brew it up, drink it, and things
would stay as they are. Not that there was anything wrong with her little
family as it stood, she loved her son, and N'call was the best father, and
best partner he could be. But what if there was four of them instead of
three? It wasn't as though Tecall didn't have siblings, Ninaine had her
daughter, and there was another baby coming soon, which meant he would have
siblings close to his own age. But what if he had a brother or sister that
really was his brother or sister?

It wasn't a decision she could make on her own though, even if plenty of
women did. So she put the packet back up on the shelf, gathered herself
together and went to see if N'call was in their main room.

He was lounging in the big chair with one leg over the arm while he
read a book. He didn't often have the time to read these days and he
sometimes missed it. His feet were bare and his toes clenched and
unclenched in an unconscious motion while he hummed tunelessly. "Hey,"
he looked up as she came into the room and smiled. "You look serious,"
he said and closed the book.

"I was thinking serious thoughts," she said. "About the future. Our future."
She took a chair close to him, moving one of Tecall's toys from the seat,
and playing with the stuffed animal absently herself.

He smiled and pulled his leg off the arm of the chair swinging around
to lean forward facing her. "What kind of serious thoughts Tes?"

"The kind that you should know about," she said, putting the toy down and
leaning towards him. "The kind of thoughts that sometimes lead to actions,"
she began. "I, I was wondering about whether we should try to give Tecall a
brother or sister."

N'call smiled and reached out for her hand. "That _is_ serious," he
said softly. "But not unwelcome. Would you like to have another baby
then?"

"I would," she confessed. "When I picture the next turn or so, I do see
another baby. Tecall would make the best big brother, and I don't want him
to be alone. I know it could mean I won't be Weyrwoman yet, but it just
feels like the right time to talk about it."

"I love all the children sweetheart and if you want a full sibling for
Tecall. It would make me very happy." He happened to think his son was
quite precocious and would make an excellent big brother.

"And I'm betting the trying would make you very happy too," she said with a
grin.

"Of course," he grinned. "You know how much I like to try, even when
we're not 'trying.' He leaned toward her for a kiss.

She kissed him back. When it broke, she said. "Tecall is staying with his
foster mother tonight..." letting her voice trail off.

"Oh?" His brows rose and eyes twinkled. "And have you already stopped
your teas?"

"I haven't had any today," she replied. "So anything could happen tonight."

He didn't quite think it could happen that fast but he was certainly
eager to give it a try and leaned toward her again. "Is now good for
you?"

"Yes," she said softly. "Yes, it is."

"Oh good," he smiled and stood reaching out a hand to help her up from
the chair. "I'm in favor of trying as soon and as often as possible,"
he said. His thoughts flitted back to Dragonsfall and Ninaine. He
missed her and their children and soon as she and the babies were well
enough he planned to bring them here as well. But for right here and
right now, his attention was fully engaged with the beautiful woman he
was with.

"Tes," he breathed softly. She knew how much he cared for her.

"Let's try and make a baby," she said as she got to her feet.
