Abrei

Abrei

"I think my journeymen are considering paying you to visit more often,"
Abrei drawled as she leaned back in her chair, toying with a leftover
piece of fruit from their lunch. "You could probably make a tidy
profit."

"Well, I can't say that I don't get my own rewards for visiting with
you," U'kaiah grinned as he popped another grape into his mouth.

Abrei rolled her eyes toward the ceiling, but it was mostly habit.
U'kaiah certainly was good at relieving her stress, and without any of
that troublesome romance and emotional confusion that had plagued her
relationship with R'han. Maybe there was something lacking... but as far
as Abrei was concerned, this was a _far_ better arrangement.

Leaning forward to set her uneaten fruit aside, Abrei quirked an eyebrow
at him. "So. Do you want some reward sex for dessert?" Almost before the
words were out, she winced. Shards, she was _terrible_ at subtle
flirting.

"Sure," U'kaiah replied, pushing a laugh down and hiding his amused grin
behind a drink of fruit juice. She was starting to loosen up on in the
actual performance, but her seduction tactics needed a lot of work. That
just might have to be next.

Abrei made a face at him. "Maybe I should stop trying to use words in a
seductive fashion. I have a tendency to make a mess of that."

"Well, no," the bronzerider politely lied. "Not a mess at all. I think
you're just out of practice."

"I was never _in_ practice," she retorted, rising to her feet. She moved
past U'kaiah and turned the lock on her office door, the memory of
Jynrek walking in on her and R'han drifting up. The pain at the thought
shouldn't have surprised her, but she let her forehead rest against the
door for a moment as she forced the feelings down. He'd said that day
that they'd have to do their best to survive her temper... obviously
he'd decided she wasn't worth the effort.

U'kaiah stood and leaned against the wall next to her. "Not feeling
like dessert anymore?"

She turned and forced a smile. "I'm just being broody. It happens
sometimes no matter how hard I try to stop it."

"Maybe you just need a little something to take your mind off it." He
took her hand and pulled her closer. U'kaiah hated to see Abrei have
that sad look in her eye.

Abrei slid a hand around his waist and leaned into him, her lips going
to his ear. "I'm going to answer you without words." And with that she
turned her face into his neck, scraping her teeth against his skin.

"Yes, I think you're right," he grinned, tilting his head a little.
"Nonverbal communication is highly effective in this case."

The encouragement helped ease the knot of tension between her shoulders,
which was good since the fact that they were in her office was fairly
difficult for her to overcome. It was stubbornness that won out in the
end, forcing her to take a step back and slide her tunic over her head.
She shed her undershirt on the second step, letting it fall over her
desk as she watched U'kaiah's face.

A slow appreciative smile spread across U'kaiah's lips as he pushed
himself off the wall and grabbed the hem up his own tunic to lift it
over his head. She sure had the nonverbal communication down _very_
well. **Shards, but we should have explored this side of our friendship
_turns_ ago!** he thought as his eyes raked her from her eyes down to
her shapely hips and back up. There was a few paces distance between
them, but it seemed electric with anticipation.

She took another step back, her hands slipping to her skirt. The fabric
slid slowly over her hips before pooling on the ground, and Abrei took
another step back, meaning to step out of the skirt.

Unfortunately, she forgot that there was chair behind her. Her arms went
out as she flailed for balance for a moment before sitting down rather
abruptly in the chair. The chair itself rocked precariously for a moment
as if it was going to tip over backwards, but Abrei made a desperate
grab for her desk and managed to stabilize herself.

Then she covered her face with her hands and groaned. "I give up."

U'kaiah chuckled as he walked over and crouched down in front of her. It
was a wonder the woman hadn't killed herself. Or any of her lovers that
he knew of. He reached up to pull her hands away from her face. "Well,
I don't think that chair is the most stable of surface, but we can work
with it."

Her cheeks were flushed as she met his eyes. Part of her wanted to slap
him. Most of her was wondering what sort of ideas he had about the
chair... "I would have been terribly sexy if that chair hadn't gotten in
the way," she said somewhat sullenly, sliding her fingers into his hair.

"I think you're terribly sexy even with the chair in your way." He
leaned down to kiss her knee softly before his eyes flickered
mischievously to hers. "Now I think you had mentioned something about
dessert earlier..."

"Oh..." The flush in her cheeks didn't fade, but her eyes filled with
anticipation. "I think I'd like that..."
