Description: H'run gets a tour from his new Wingmate, K'mai
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 2, day 9 of Turn 10
H'run had forgotten how boring it was to be on the ground. The bluerider sat on his dragon's foot as he watched his new Wing drill, both glad that he was given time to learn but also struggling to pay attention. Watching aerial drills from the ground was something that he'd thought he had left behind when he'd graduated weyrlinghood. The experience of flying in a fighting Wing meant that it wasn't the visual mess that it had been when he was still new to dragons, but it was still... dull.
So it was a relief when the drill ended and he was given the signal from his new Wingleader that he could leave for the afternoon. H'run stood, stretched, and noticed that one of the dragons that he'd been watching was coming in to land beside him and Calcifeth. **Who is this?**
}:Sebeth,:{ Calcifeth told him.
**And his rider?**
}:Riders names are for you to remember,:{ Calicifeth told him. Both he and H'run narrowed their eyes as Sebeth landed beside them, and his rider pulled off his helmet.
**Well now.** H'run felt himself smile at the other bluerider, who happened to be one of the most beautiful men he'd ever seen-- besides himself. Suddenly Cyan Wing seemed like a far more attractive prospect. "Hello, Sebeth's rider! What brings you down to my level?"
"I saw something interesting and had to come investigate." The bluerider smiled held out his hand. "K'mai, of Sebeth as you've
already learned." And K'mai was very pleased that this beautiful new man in their Wing was a bluerider, which meant he at least had a chance.
}:Green would be better,:{ Sebeth said.
**You have plenty of greens to chase. This one is for me.**
"Well met, K'mai Sebeth's rider." H'run reached up the clasp the other man's hand in greeting. "I'm H'run, and this is Calcifeth. As you've already deduced, we are new transfers and will be joining your Wing."
"Very pleased to meet you, H'run. Welcome to Dragonsfall. If there's anything I can do you help you feel more at home, let me know." K'mai held on to H'run's hand a little longer than was necessary.
H'run noticed. "Well, if you're free this evening, I wouldn't mind a tour of the Weyr. A real tour, I mean. There's the tour that you get from the Headwoman's staff that just shows you around, and then there's a real tour that highlights the actual best bits of the Weyr."
K'mai felt a pang. He'd known every nook and cranny of River Bluff and could have shown this man around effortlessly. Shards, he missed home. But he put on a smile. "I'd be happy to." He'd been at Dragonsfall long enough to show someone the more interesting places. "I could meet you for dinner?"
H'run flashed him a dazzling smile. "I'll look forward to it."
When dinner came K'mai had to fend off a few other offers, explaining that he already had plans. He scanned the dining cavern and it didn't take long to find the lovely new bluerider. "Hello again, H'run."
"Oh good, you found me." H'run stood as K'mai approached. "I was hoping that I wouldn't disappear into the crowd. I hope you were able to rest up after drills?"
"Yes, I did." K'mai took a seat beside him. "But mostly, I was looking forward to dinner. Where are you from, H'run?"
"Dream's End Weyr. And now I'm from here. What about you?" H'run asked curiously.
Of course H'run would ask the same question. K'mai should have thought of that. But maybe it was better to get it out of the way. "I'm from River Bluff."
H'run winced. "Ah. My condolences, friend. That was a terrible time, and I am sorry that you had to go through it."
"Thank you." K'mai waved a hand. "But let's talk about more pleasant things. Do you have a craft?"
H'run looked a bit abashed. It was faked, of course, but practiced enough that most wouldn't notice. "Harpering, I'm afraid. All music and lies. Yourself?"
"I've successfully avoided any crafting." K'mai winked. "But I love harpers. Such talented fingers."
Oh, he liked this K'mai. "It's true. We are often quite talented, whether its playing instruments, reading body language..." H'un paused to rake his gaze over the other man's very fine figure, before turning his smile back on K'mai. "But you did promise me a tour. We could start with the menu... what ought I plan to eat, and what should I avoid?"
"Most everything is good, though some of the vegetables can be a little sad in the coldest months. And sometimes the kitchen makes a particularly good roast porcine. The sauce is a specialty of the head cook." K'mai had opinions about the fish, but he didn't want to get into that.
"Is there anything that you find particularly delectable?" H'run asked innocently.
"Are we still talking about food?" K'mai asked with a little smile.
"I was." The other bluerider did his best to look innocent. "Are you?"
"Hmm..." K'mai's eyes sparkled. "Well, no matter what we're discussing, I'm a man of many tastes. Sweet, savory... above all I love variety."
**Don't we all.** H'run ran his fingers along the edge of the table, pretending nonchalance. "So the dining cavern is fine... what about the bathing pools? Which is your favourite?"
"Let's make the the bathing cavern our first stop on the tour. Well, unless this counts as the first stop."
"I'd say yes, but I'm not the tour leader." H'run flashed K'mai another bright smile. "I'll follow you."
K'mai rose. "Well, then. Dining cavern." He swept his arm around. "Next stop, bathing cavern. And would it be to forward of me to consider what our last stop might be?" K'mai arched an eyebrow.
"Hardly. I am in your very capable hands, after all," H'run replied.
K'mai smiled. "I hope your hands prove to be capable as well."
