C'rin

Savith had been surprisingly aggressive during drills, putting extra
acrobatics. Riveenata had been riding her long enough that she knew that
her irritability meant she was due to rise soon, so after the mock-Fall
had ended she'd washed them both up, noticing the telltale beginning of
glow as she cleared away pieces of charred rope and paint, and gone for
an early night. Savith had stayed up on the rim flirting with the male
dragons, full of the energy her rider was lacking, as though she pulled
it from their bond.

The next morning, the green dragon's hide was glowing softly, though her
sleep was deep when her rider patted her hide. Riveenata quickly got
dressed in a lightweight dress and went for food first, and was back on
her way to her weyr after breakfast with a friend, wondering if she'd be
able to rouse Savith in time for their assigned duties later. But the
sound of a green's scream, and the feeling of Savith's mind reconnecting
with hers in a hot rush full of desire for the rush of the cool air
under her wings and the fury of flightlust, made her realize she
wouldn't be doing transport. Not yet.

The green reared up on her high ledge, circling down to the feeding pens
to tear into a carcass and rend it to pieces. Riveenata jogged over to
stare the savage beast in the eye, forcing her to blood it for the
energy she'd need to fly high and far and fast. **Blood for a good
flight,** she coaxed. After the drama of the last few sevendays, the
baby's birth, K'lvin's offer, everything that was going on, the simple,
uncomplicated nature of a flight was what she needed right now.

Savith took to the sky shortly after, bugling her high, piercing
challenge to lure the males after her. Several took wing to chase her, a
few quick and agile blues, solid and clever browns, and even some
bronzes. The green was pleased by the turnout after her, and flew them a
merry chase along a path inland, taunting the males that she could fly
fast and forever and that they'd never catch her. She did some tricky
dive-and-turns and watched as some males fouled and dropped out of the
pack, winnowing down the challengers to only a few options.

When she tired, she considered her options. There was familiar Dasveth,
who complimented her so well when their riders went out together. Young
Rymeth, who had been flirting with her earlier and had showed cleverness
in evading the tangle. Iorath, a strong bronze, and she knew she liked
them. That reminded her something was missing, but -

she had no time to think about it as wings claimed hers, and arms
claimed her rider.

As the heat of the flight faded from the corners of his mind and clarity
returned, C'rin traced his fingers along the bare skin tucked against
him, an intense feeling of satisfaction ebbing through his body. It was
not the first time he had been intimate with Riveenata, but shells it
had been a long time, ever since the whole K'lvin situation had started
up months ago. Things had been so good ever since that bronzerider had
left the Weyr, C'rin secretly thought. It had cleared Riveenata up to
act like the Riveenata he remembered from River Bluff, the greenrider
that had been his friend and sometimes more.

She shivered at the feeling of fingers stroking against her skin, still
hot and sweaty from the exertion of the flight. She rolled over to press
herself against the firm body in bed with her. "Mmm, good morning..."
she murmured. If it was still morning.

"Fancy seeing you here," his lips tilted into a rakish grin.

Her eyes flickered fully open at the sound of a familiar voice, and she
couldn't help but smile when she recognized who was in bed with her.
"Mm, C'rin...nice to see you right now," she said. "Savith made a very
good choice with Dasveth."

"I thought so," C'rin agreed, one hand tracing its way along the
graceful curve of Riveenata's hip.

"You've been waiting for this for days, hmm?" she teased.

"Months, actually," he replied, although there was no tease in his
voice.

"You've been waiting months for her to rise?" Her mind was still
somewhat distracted and tangled from the haze.

"No, I've been waiting months to be naked with you in bed," C'rin
clarified, grin returning.

C'rin was handsome. Good in bed. One of her old friends. Someone she'd
spent time with before she got serious with K'lvin - and someone she'd
spent less time with since then. There were a few things she could say
to that. A few that maybe she _should_ say. A few that she _shouldn't_.

The flightlust was still real and simmering between them, and he was in
her bed now, and they were together. So she said, "And now you have me
here. Convenient, isn't it?"

It was all the encouragement C'rin needed to roll over top of Riveenata,
holding himself up on his elbows as he grinned down at her. "Extremely
convenient," he agreed, placing his lips to her bare skin, as he kissed
his way down beneath the blankets.

She shuddered under him and her hands caught in his hair, pulling
lightly to encourage. "Shards, you're good," she encouraged.

"And I am just getting started...."

-

C'rin glanced over his shoulder as Riveenta dressed, his own fingers
busy buttoning his shirt. "You want to grab a bite to eat?" he asked.

Loose-limbed and relaxed and buzzing with happiness, she grinned. "Sure.
I have an appetite now for some reason."

"I can't imagine what you have been doing to work up such an appetite."
C'rin flashed his teeth as he smiled, one hand raking his slightly curly
hair into some semblance of order.

She reached out to fuss with a lock of it. "I don't think you're winning
that fight without a comb."

"Whoa, spoken like a novice. If you comb curly hair it makes it frizzy."
C'rin said, escorting her out of the room.

"Maybe you'll have to show me how to care for it properly, then."
