H'run

H'run

Kamalia wasn't sure if she'd fallen asleep or not. Time always moved
strangely for her when Alaudath rose. She remembered heading to the
feeding pens and half-seeing the browns, blues, and one bronze
assembling. Then Alaudath launched herself into the air and led her
suitors on a chase full of twists and turns, rises and falls. She had
ultimately been caught by a blue, and Kamalia had quickly found
herself tangled in the arms of... someone. She thought she remembered
dark hair, and muscles, but that didn't do much to narrow the field.

She was lying on her back, slightly turned towards the bluerider on
her right. The left side of her body was uncovered and slowly becoming
uncomfortably cold. Kamalia didn't feel much like moving, but the
combination of cold and curiosity led to the greenrider opening her
eyes and turning her head slightly to see who was next to her.

"H'run," she said softly, a smile crossing her face. Well, this was a
pleasant surprise. She'd found him attractive since he had transferred
to Dragonsfall Weyr. But, since he was a wingmate, she had never
considered pursuing anything with him. Lucky for her, mating flights
forced her to ignore that rule.

He blinked sleepily at her, a slow smile crossing his face when he
heard his name. "Welcome back, lovely. How are you feeling? Are you
all right?"

"I feel great," she answered immediately. She felt a warmth in her
stomach at his concern for her wellbeing. After a quick mental check,
she felt a bit of soreness, but nothing concerning. "Are you ok?"

"My Calcifeth just caught a rising green who happens to have a
shockingly beautiful rider. I couldn't be better." H'run propped his
chin on his hand so that he could get a better look at her in the
half-light of the flight cot. "My only wish is that I was the sort of
Harper who painted, so I could remember you like this. Alas."

The lingering flight lust and H'run's over-the-top praise combined to
make Kamalia feel almost giddy. It was like being in one of those
romance novels she'd giggled over with friends as a Candidate. "You
probably say that to every greenrider you wake up next to," she said,
but she couldn't keep a wide smile from crossing her face.

"You don't think that you're a stunning woman?" H'run ran a fingertip
across her cheek. "Because I do."

His touch sent delightful shivers through her and she leaned into it.
"I wouldn't have used that word. But, I'll take it. Now, your eyes?
Those are stunning." She was surprised she'd never noticed them
before, so bright and green. Almost without a thought, she leaned in
for a kiss. The worst he could do was refuse.

H'run met her half-ways, kissing her thoroughly and nibbling a little
on her lip before pulling away. "They are rather stunning, aren't
they?" he said, laughter edging his voice as he batted his long
eyelashes at her. "All the better to see you with."

She could feel her heart practically beating out of her chest, and she
pressed herself against him. "You know, when you first came to the
Weyr, I wasn't sure if you were into women," she shared. "You dress so well."

H'run was flattered. "I do try. And I am attracted to interesting,
beautiful people. Like you."

A light laugh escaped her. His compliments were so over the top, but
also seemed sincere. "Well, thank goodness for mating flights. They
give us a chance to get to know each other better."

"Absolutely. Ask me anything," he said impulsively.

"Ooh, dangerous." This wasn't where she thought the conversation had
been going, but Kamalia couldn't help but feel excited at the
invitation to ask whatever she wanted. She sat up, pulling the covers
around herself to keep out the chill. "What was your first time like?
And was it with a man or a woman?"

H'run sighed as he rolled onto his back. "A woman. Well... a girl. But
I was quite young too. I'd just been Searched and moved to the Weyr...
she was working in the laundry, if I recall." He smiled fondly,
remembering. "She was a little older and had the most lovely dark
hair. I, of course, had no idea what I was doing. She was very
patient."

Kamalia smiled, trying to imagine a young H'run and not quite managing
it. "I'm sure you learned a lot from her. Although," she pouted
slightly, "I can't really remember much."

"From your first time?" H'run smiled and reached up to run a gentle
finger along her jaw. "Probably for the best. First times are... well,
we all have to learn some time."

"Oh no," she gently corrected him, while also leaning into his touch.
"My first time was memorable." A certain bronzerider had made it a
delightful experience. "I meant our first time."

His eyes widened and he cupped her face with his palm. "I think I must
rectify that."

Kamalia eagerly leaned in to kiss H'run, letting herself succumb to
the lingering lust from the mating flight. This time, she was able to
fully enjoy the experience, and be once again grateful that Calcifeth
had caught Alaudath. As her heartbeat began to slow, she shifted to
her side, body still pressed against the bluerider. She was feeling a
bit more like herself now. "Well, I definitely will remember that,"
she said, grinning.

The bluerider preened at that. "I would be mortally offended if you
said it was forgettable. And then I'd have to try to impress you
again..."

Kamalia couldn't help the giggle that escaped her at his comment. But,
as content as she was, she was starting to feel ready to get back to
normality. She sat up and began to look around for her clothes, hoping
nothing had ripped. Before leaving the bed, she turned towards him
once more. "Thank you, H'run. You know how to make a mating flight
extra fun."

"You're very welcome. And please _do_ tell everyone you know that,"
H'run said with a wink.
