Qarinoa smiled as she and her green walked towards the handsome pair of lifemates. Herimos **No, now it's H'mos** had become so much more happy since the hatching. He was scrubbing down his brown and with his shirtoff Qari couldn't help but admire him, he was mature, interested in dragonhealing, sweet, respectful, and handsome. Everything she wanted in a man, but she could tell that he wasn't interested in that kind of a relationship with anyone, she couldn't even have a serious relationoship with him until they were out of weyrlinghood. Oh, well she would still like to be his friend. She sighed softly as she and Armineth reached H'mos and Mosiyth.

"I see I'm not the only one who thought to take advantage of such a beautiful day by getting my lifemate scrubbed down." she smiled at him sweetly, but not too sweetly.

H'mos looked up and smiled. He had taken a liking to seeing her around. He watched her as she walked up. "Well, fancy seeing you out here. Armineth looks well today." Mosiyth peeked his head around his rider to watch the pair. Why was his rider blushing a bit? He was curious but remained quiet.

Qari saw the head of the curious little brown peek around his rider and smiled even more. "As does Mosiyth." Armineth nudged her rider with her nose, }:Is Mosiyth's rider okay? His face is turning red." Qarinoa blushed slighty at her dragon's observation. Qari of course hadn't noticed. **He's fine.** "Do you happen to have enough sweetsand to share? I forgot to bring some." She asked as she tried to change her train of thought so as not to get her dragon asking more questions. H'mos smiled, "course we do. Here you are." He set to ceaning the small brown. All, the while he was aware of her nearness. He carfuly schooled his features and gaurded his thoughts. He didn't want to upset either dragon.

Qarinoa let out a small sigh, it would be a long time before anything could happen, yet. As she scrubbed down her green she began thinking about the fact that she knew very little of H'mos. "So, who have you gotten to know so far in the Weyr?"

"Kustavva, and a few others. I've met a young woman named Illiana. But I met them because of my canine. He seems to have the love of meeting people.
He also helps me meet many young children." He smiled.

Qari smiled back at him, she liked the canine he often had waggling around him. "How long have you had him? I got my feline, Hollie on my fifteenth birthingday." "He was a gift for my fifteenth birthingday also. They wanted to reward me for making it through one turn of healer training. I loved being a healer.
I had five turns of healing before I switched. Healing people lost it's alure when..." He looked down. He let his hair fall just right to keep her from seeing the tear that started to form. Mosiyth looked at his rider worriedly. He didn't understand what was making him sad. He knew his rider had needed him. He could feel the emptiness H'mos had before he, Mosiyth had come to fill it. H'mos had been good at hiding it from him till then. He wanted H'mos to face it. He didn't want him to be sad. Maybe this girl could figure it out. Mosiyth put his head against his rider for comfort. Qarinoa was surprised by the sudden break in the conversation, she had turned back to scrubbing her green while he talked, but when he stopped she looked up to see him looking down, his hair covering his eyes. **What makes you so withdrawn H'mos? Why is it that every time I look into your eyes I see a hidden sadness?**

She patted her green's head in reassurance and made her way over to the other weyrling. She put her hand on his shoulder, offering comfort she knew not what for. Finally she asked, "When what H'mos? You can't keep this welled up inside you forever, it will only confuse him," she gestured towards his brown. "If you can't overcome what has happened to you in the past, then you will never succeed at what you do in the future." She wanted so much to throw her arms around him, to hold him. Qari didn't think that would be bad, it would be only to comfort him. So she did, slowly so that he could back away if he wanted to, putting her arms up and around his neck letting his head fall onto her shoulder. It was all he needed. He let his tears fall on her shoulder as he finaly dealt with his grief. "Qari, I wasn't able to save her. All the healing I had learned, was useless. She died in my arms. The other healers kept telling me they had done all they could. I didn't believe them I wanted to save her. All we had together was three months. Three beautiful months.
Then she was snatched from me...." He buried his head in her warm shoulder. Qari couldn't stop the few silent tears that fell down her cheek, but she didn't make a sound, trying to being strong for him as he overcame his grief in her arms. She had had no idea, how horrible, he didn't deserve this. She rubbed his bare, sun-warmed back softly with the tips of her fingers, hoping it could calm him down. "I'm so sorry, H'mos...I'm _so_ sorry." She had to stop suddenly as she felt her throat constrict with emotion. **All I can do is be his friend. Comfort him. That's _all_ I can do.** "I'm here for you..." she whispered softly not sure he heard her or not, not sure that it was enough, just _being_ there.

H'mos got his emotions in check and looked up into her eyes. "Thank you.
I'm glad you are here. I've been trying to continue life and stop thinking about it." He carefully led her out to the sand and sat down. "You kinda remind me of her. She always loved making others smile and feel better. I thought coming to the Weyr would help me deal with it. I figured being here I wouldn't be reminded of her all the time. Saddly I was wrong. I missed her all the more. Then you came along and I felt comfortable with you. I felt as if I could talk to you forever. I feel better now that you know." He blushed slightly. "Perhaps when they are older and all we can see were our friendship goes. I'd like to get to know you more. If you still want to be my friend." He turned back from his comtiplation of the two dragonettes.
They had taken to comforting each other as they watched their riders.

}:Are you okay now?:{ asked his worried little brown. **I'm fine love. Come on over if you'd like.** Mosiyth came over to lie in the sand with his head in his riders lap.

Armineth followed the brown and plopped next to her rider, content with Qarinoa's mental reassurance that everything was okay.

Qari held his hand, squeezing it, not sure whether she should say something about how she was glad he had ended up coming to the Weyr, and that she was sorry it hadn't helped, but thought that maybe it might sound like she was glad that his wife had died. Instead she stayed on safe ground, commenting on what he had last said, "I'd like to get to know you better too." Her eyes flashed mischeviously, but only for a momment, hoping that it would get even the smallest smile out of him.

H'mos smiled warmly. It was a warmer smile then he had had since that day so long ago. Perhaps now was the time to move on. "Shall we retire these two and get something to eat. I'll tell you all about my childhood if you tell me about yours." He stood and offered her a hand.

Qari smiled up at him, the sun bright behind him he looked the most handsome she had ever seen him. She put her hand in his, "I would love that."
