Description: A lost flight is a chance for K'mai and H'run to reignite passion, but they aren't on the same page.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 1, day 13 of Turn 12
It had been a good flight, even if Calcifeth hadn't won. H'run snuggled a little deeper into the furs of the flight cot as a draft ran icy fingers across his shoulder. Calcifeth hadn't won... but he had. It hadn't been chance that he'd found himself standing next to K'mai as the green dragon rose, and if he'd helped things along by reaching for the other man's hand as the flight ended... well. He sighed. "Are you all right?"
"Are _you_?" K'mai countered, trying not to let worry creep in. It had felt wonderful, still did. But they hadn't slept together since H'run confessed his feelings and K'mai didn't want this to cause problems between them again. They were friends again but there was always a distance between them.
"_I_ am glorious, but I'd prefer to hear about you," H'run said sweetly.
Well, fine. K'mai hated holding back his feelings and the languid aftermath of dragonlust made it easy. So he leaned in to kiss H'run's neck. "I missed this. Being with you."
H'run shivered and closed his eyes. It felt too good, to be held like this. To feel loved. It was so easy to lie to himself, to tell himself that K'mai meant it. That he felt the same. H'run closed his eyes and buried his face into the crook of K'mai's neck, letting the scent of his skin overwhelm his senses and doubt.
K'mai slid a hand up H'run's back. This might be a mistake, but H'run had reached for _him_, maybe he was finally okay with K'mai's lack of romantic feelings. Maybe seeing that K'mai hadn't suddenly fallen in love with someone else made H'run realize it wasn't about him. K'mai trailed kisses up H'run's neck, along his jaw, and then over to his lips.
H'run kissed him back like he was drowning and K'mai was air. His fingers tangled in K'mai's hair as he drew him close. He couldn't get him close enough. If they tangled together enough, maybe it would be impossible to tell where one of them started and the other ended, and then K'mai would never leave.
K'mai's body responded eagerly as they pressed close together and his kisses grew more urgent. Shards, it felt so good to share pleasure with his friend again. Maybe they could go back to the way things were before.
He didn't want to stop, but after a moment H'run did. He felt drunk. "Are you sure?" He wanted desperately to hear K'mai say it, to acknowledge what their bodies so desperately wanted.
K'mai looked at him, his eyes dark and deep. All he could think of was being with H'run, surrendering to their mutual desire. He traced a finger under H'run's chin. "As long as you want it."
**Forever.** H'run closed his eyes and melted into the man he loved. His head spun and it felt like a leap over a fire, the mad exhilaration of love and promised pain. The relief of knowing that even if it was a lie, for now he wasn't alone. Isn't that what everyone wanted, to know that they were loved back? And if a part of him knew that it was a lie, then H'run was a good enough liar to convince himself that this, being together with lips on skin and heat and desire-- this was the only truth. And he revelled in it.
