Description: Aydhan's weyrmate spotted K'mai across the bar and liked his vibe
Location: Vintner Hall
Date: month 4, day 24 of Turn 12
K'mai stood and hugged his friends. "We'll do this again soon." It was
still fairly early for him, but different time zones meant they had to
get back home. He kissed one on the cheek and one on the lips. "Good
night."
"Good night!" His friends waved as they left the table.
"Looks like it's just us, then." K'mai said as he sat back down.
The middle aged greenrider said, "I should head back soon, but . . ."
She looked at her empty glass. "Maybe one more?"
N'kevyn had assumed a lazy, comfortable slouch after a few beers, his
eyes casually scanning the thinning crowd. Leaning towards Aydhan, he
murmured, "See anything you like? We could send over some drinks."
They'd come out for a relaxing evening away from the Weyr, away from
all the recent stresses. Whether anyone caught their eye or not, it
was nice to be away from home.
Aydhan laughed, leaning into N'kevyn's touch like they were lovestruck
teenagers. She felt a little guilty over this getaway, but she
couldn't deny that she had needed a moment to breathe. She'd left her
knots and Tymborikath at Barrier Lake, not wanting to answer any
questions or get undue attention. A bronze dragon was enough to get a
good table, and there were plenty of dragonriders to divert the
layman's curiosity.
"Hmm…" She scanned the crowd, considering. It'd been a while since
they played this game. They'd been so well behaved since they
transferred. "Are we splitting the dish, darling, or is this a treat
just for me?"
“I wouldn’t mind a nibble, but feel free to follow your tastes.”
Turning to whisper in her ear, N’kevyn reminded, “I picked out the
last treat we shared. It’s your turn if you want it.” Straightening
just a little, “And if nothing else, the beer is excellent.” Grinning,
he suggested, “Or we could just gossip about our fellow guests. What
about that table- older woman, younger man? Definitely hot for
teacher.”
"Well, if we're sharing a meal, it's only fair to consider what you're
in the mood for." Aydhan said with a laugh, "Dragontail or bubbly
pie?"
When their drinks arrived, K’mai’s gaze flicked up. The couple was
still there. While most of his attention had been on his friends, he’d
noticed the pair. Noticed them _looking_. Barrier Lake’s acting
Weyrwoman, and the mountain of a man next to her must be her weyrmate.
Bronzerider. That would have been a disappointment before but now . .
. K’mai’s pulse sped at the possibilities.
“Mmm, maybe dragontail as a change but that’s a very crude innuendo,”
N’kevyn criticized lightly.
"I've been waiting for a chance to make that joke since they were
served at Dragonsfall's last hatching." Aydhan said. "I need to find
something better than bubbly pie, though." She did perk up at the
thought of 'dragontail', though. N'kevyn didn't indulge often without
Avicath. "What about him?" She gestured towards the younger man that
might be hot for teacher. "Send him a drink. See what happens."
“Oh but what if his tablemate gets jealous?” If anything, that thought
seemed to encourage N’kevyn and he gestured one of the workers over.
A few moments later, another drink was delivered to the pair at the
other table, or rather to K’mai. N’kevyn was watching the delivery
intently. No matter what the reaction, the evening was about to get
more interesting.
“From the gentleman over there,” the server told K’mai. The
bluerider’s eyes lit as he looked up at the couple. From _him_?
K’mai’s hopes grew. He turned to the greenrider, a grin spreading
across his face.
She laughed. “Go on. I was going to head out soon anyway.”
They stood and he gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Barely
containing his excitement, K’mai took the drink with him and sat down
across from the goldrider and her mate. “Hellooo.” K’mai’s gaze took
them both in. He wanted to climb that bronzerider like a tree, and
Aydhan was that combination of cute and sexy that K’mai found hard to
resist. “I’ve had bronzeriders buy me a drink before, but not like
_this_.” The bluerider hummed and took a slow sip as he watched them.
Aydhan chuckled, a low, warm sound, and tilted her head slightly,
appraising K'mai with a playful gleam in her eyes. "We like to keep
things interesting. Your friend didn't mind?"
“Not at all. We were lingering a bit but she might appreciate getting
a little more sleep.” His tone was casual but his heart was racing,
wicked ideas filling his mind. “I, on the other hand, would be happy
to stay up all night. If you were looking for fun, you’ve found it.”
“Oh, is that not the way you like bronzeriders to buy you a drink?”
N’kevyn was smirking, “Was I supposed to ask first? I can be a little
impulsive, you know. Aydhan can never decide if it’s my worst or my
best habit.”
“Oh I’m very interested in your impulses.” K’mai played with his
glass. “So the two of you like to play? Is this a situation where I
need to watch where my hands " and other parts " go, or . . .” He
leaned closer to the bronzerider. “Can we cross swords?”
“Oh, I make it a habit of not worrying about anything when I’m having
fun, and I recommend that practice, as a rule,” N’kevyn said. “We like
to play, together or alone, whatever strikes the fancy.”
K’mai bit his lip, a bolt of lust going through him. The thought of
getting his hands on another bronzerider made him giddy, but that
certainly wasn’t the only thing he wanted. “I’m very interested in
playing with both of you.” Bronze and gold, what an unexpected treat.
“K’mai, of blue Sebeth, at your very eager service.”
Aydhan arched an eyebrow, her lips curving into a slow, knowing smile.
"Aydhan, rider of Tymborikath. And this is N'kevyn, of bronze Avicath
and occasionally my better half."
“A pleasure to meet both of you.” Various scenarios danced in K’mai’s
head, each one better than the last. “Do you want to make small talk
for a while or . . .?”
N’kevyn’s head started to turn towards Aydhan, as if to check her
opinion, but stopped mid-motion. He raised an eyebrow at K’mai, “I
think I’ve had enough small talk for the evening, but if you insist, I
can probably manage it.”
K’mai chuckled. “Oh I _like_ you.” His gaze shifted to the goldrider.
He’d noticed early on that she wasn’t wearing her knots, and she
hadn’t even mentioned the color of her dragon. After what happened at
Barrier Lake it was no surprise that she wanted some time away from
her responsibilities. “So where are we spending the night, Aydhan? I’m
sure your weyr is bigger than mine, but I’ve managed three in my bed
before.” More than that, even.
Aydhan let out a soft laugh, leaning back in her chair and swirling
the remains of her drink. She didn't look surprised that her cover was
blown. "So have we, darling. Quite comfortably, I might add. Perhaps
there?"
K’mai was an adult and he needed to keep himself calm. Act like a
mature person arranging a mature encounter and not a hormonal teenager
who couldn't think about anything but getting them naked and touching
them all over. “That sounds wonderful. Lead the way.”
N’kevyn rose from the table, moving to pull out Aydhan’s chair and
offer her his arm like a proper gentleman. It took him a few moments
to rouse a snoozing Avicath outside, but the bronze practically
flattened himself on the ground, as if Aydhan didn’t have a dragon
roughy the same size of him and needed the help. “I trust your Sebeth
knows the way to Barrier Lake?” He asked K’mai more out of politeness
than any actual doubt. It was rude to just disappear and expect
someone to follow.
“He does.” K’mai patted the blue’s dark hide. The idea of going back
to Barrier Lake gave him a flicker of unease, but K’mai was sure that
once he was in their weyr he’d forget everything except Aydhan and
N’kevyn.
"What a gentleman." Aydhan told the bronze, though he looked more like
a flattened ball of dough when he crouched down like that. "Just
follow us when you arrive." She said to K'mai, still grinning, "Unless
you're getting cold feet?"
“Not at all. If anything I should apologize in advance for being
overeager.” K’mai laughed and Sebeth rumbled in amusement.
Avicath, of course, stood up before N’kevyn could climb up, making his
rider do this the hard way. They were quickly in the air, however, and
almost as quickly back in the air over Barrier Lake Weyr.
