R'lor

R'lor

V'tian yawned awake, slowly. Blinked.

Out on a nearby ledge, Indith crooned her satisfaction. }:Kularth flew so well, Mine…:{

The words took a moment to register. And then…

“_WHAT?!_”

The shout startled R’lor and he sat up, wondering if one of the weyrlings was having a crisis. But this wasn’t his weyr and . . . V’tian was in bed next to him.

**Kularth, what did you do?!?**

}:I caught Indith. I made her feel very good.:{ The blue’s sleepy voice was full of smug satisfaction.

R’lor swallowed down his anger at his lifemate and asked the greenrider gently. “Are you alright? Did I hurt you?” Faranth, he was so _young_ and still struggling to adapt to weyrlife.

V'tian's face was bright red, he was _sure_ of it. Briefly, he wished that he could Between without needing Indith.

“I'm… fine.” He said, very carefully. “Sir.” He could panic later. Once he was _away_ from here.

}:Kularth flew me very well.:{ Indith told him.

V'tian made a strangled sound, and put his face in his hands. “I'm not hurt. …physically.”

“I know this is probably difficult for you,” R’lor said. “But the dragon decides, the rider complies. Neither of us had a choice in this.”

**You need to stop chasing dragons fresh out of weyrlinghood,** he told Kularth.

}:I will chase who I want to.:{ He curled a little tighter around Indith.

V'tian took a deep breath. “I know. Sir. It was made very clear in… lessons.” He swallowed. “I'm not hurt. Neither is Indith. She is… pleased.”

A moment more, and then V'tian added, slower. “This is duty for a green's rider. I'll… get used to it.”

}:You are very handsome, Kularth. And I knew you were skilled.:{ Indith added to the blue.

Kularth nuzzled the green. }:I am the best.:{

R’lor nearly reached out, wanting to comfort him, but he didn’t think V’tian wanted to be touched right now. “It must be hard for you, being holdbred. Even I find it difficult sometimes, knowing that I’ve done things I didn’t want to.”

V'tian made a strangled sound. “... All due respect, sir-- if you're determined to have this conversation-- can we at least get… dressed first?”

Indith crooned, and nuzzled Kularth in return. }:Only the best shall ever catch me.:{ She agreed.

“Ah, yes. That would . . . probably be best.” R’lor’s cheeks warmed. He was making the poor young man even more uncomfortable by having this conversation while they were still naked. “I can turn away while you get decent. Toss me my clothes if you see them.”

“I can… do that.” V'tian allowed, turning even more red himself. **Then, afterward, I might need a drink.** He added, mostly to Indith.

R’lor turned away and fixed his gaze on a random spot on the floor.

V'tian dressed, hastily, and gently tossed the extra clothes that definitely weren't his in R'lor's direction. “... Here.” He stated, and averted his own gaze. “I'm… decent.”

The Weyrlingmaster pulled on his own clothing and then sat on the edge of the bed. “I hope at least some of your flights are enjoyable and not merely a duty. With the right person . . . it can be very nice.” He smiled gently. “But of course that’s up to the dragons.”

V'tian turned even more red. “... Yes, sir.” He opted instead of anything else. “Sharding Indith.” But his tone had no real heat, and he shrugged after a long moment. “I'll… get used to it. And…”

He hesitated.

“I guess you aren't the _worst_ blue she could have gone for.”

R’lor arched an eyebrow and tried not to take offense. “Well, that is something. Thank you for the flight, V’tian.”

“... You're welcome.” V'tian muttered, half under his breath, face still flushed. He finished tugging on his shirt, and didn't look at R'lor directly. “... Greens fly. Someone's going to catch them.”
