He pointed to a second cabinet as she fussed with the earrings. It was filled with necklaces and delicate glass carvings. Even, in one corner, some colored glass plaques for the walls of a Hold, rare and quite exquisite. His glassmith son, of course. "Look there, Lady, when you've finished admiring your gift." Miralani folded her new earrings carefully into the cloth they had been resting on before turning to where Daynar was pointing. Several of the necklaces immediately caught her attention, set with jewels that were so skillfully cut that they caught every bit of light in the room and reflected it back tenfold. "Master Daynar, your hall does exquisite work." Daynar beamed; this was one area his Hall did not lack - talent and products. "Thank you, Lady. Choose what you like, and we can discuss price." His eyebrow arched at her. She would certainly be a very shrewd customer and he knew he'd have to keep up if he wished to impress her. If impressing her was the right way. Perhaps it was impressing her with the fact that he _needed_ her in order to impress others...

He thought on this while the Lady chose her purchases. "Any of those would do nicely for you, Lady." Her eyes flickered over emeralds and rubies with interest, but her breath caught when she found the necklace set with sapphires and rare black diamonds. It would be perfect with her earring and look stunning with her coloring--and probably cost more than she cared to think about.

Daynar noted her interest, putting it in the back of his mind. He would make her no more gifts, but he could see what she liked, and he would remember. He smiled at her warmly, and walked over to yet another shelf and pulled out a carved wood case that was quite large. He settled it on the table near them, and pulled the catch to open the lid. Inside were two matched sets consisting of earrings, a necklace and a bracelet. They were simply cut, but beautifully clean in appearance and had many less gems than the current selection Miralani was perusing. One set was diamond, the other beryl. Both would look lovely with Miralani's elegant features. The earrings were simply small, finely edge chunks, one piece. The necklace was a pendant type shaped like a teardrop and the bracelet simply silver with small gem flakes set intermittently. It was not as expensive as many of the other pieces because it had none of the filigree that seemed so popular of late with the Lords and Lady Holders.

"Perhaps one of these, Lady?"

Miralani glanced at necklaces, her pride rebelling. Did he think she couldn't pay for them? "They are beautiful, Master Daynar."

"They would look lovely, and I sold the identical set to a Lady Holder not too long ago." He leaned back, the chair groaning a bit beneath his frame.
"Any of these are beautiful, and all would be lucky to grace your neck." He waved his hand to both the expensive pieces and the less expensive pieces.
He considered her for a moment and smiled a bit shyly. "I'm afraid I'm not very good at picking jewelry, Miralani. Perhaps you should choose what you like and I will just wait quietly." He rose to his feet, the chair groaning again, and went to the ring case. There were some lovely rings inside of it.

With a last longing look at the black diamonds, Miralani turned to the case with the less expensive jewelry. Maybe she _could_ afford the necklace, but it wouldn't be practical to spend so many of her marks all at once. "I'd like to try on the diamond necklace, Master Daynar."

Daynar pulled his attention from the wedding bands and turned back to Miralani with a smile. "Of course, Lady. That is just the set I sold to a Lady Holder not too long past." He returned to her side and lifted the necklace from its container and placed it around her neck gently. It did look lovely around her elegant features. She gathered her hair up in one hand, making it easy for him to fasten the necklace around her throat. "Do you have a mirror I could look in?"

Daynar swallowed thickly as she gathered her hair up. It had been too long since he'd had a woman in his bed. Just a normal reaction to a lovely woman, or so he told himself. After a moment, he answered her, "Yes, of course." He offered his hand to her and showed her to a small chair around the corner. It was set in an alcove and had mirrors on each side and directly in front. It had been expensive, but worth it for his female customers. "Here you are, Miralani.
See? It looks lovely." "It's perfect," she replied, but her eyes met his in the mirror, and the smile she gave him suggested that she wasn't just talking about the necklace.
