X'amor couldn't get it out of his mind, the way those hard grey eyes had looked at him when he had touched B'vin's hand that night at the party. He had tried to catch up with the greenrider but to no avail.
X'amor decided to make the extra effort and find him at the Weyr.
He waited a few sevendays to let B'vin cool off. Then he decided, one sunny day to stand a ways away from the Weyrlings practicing to wait for the green rider to be done helping with instruction. He made sure he wasn't too visible because he didn't want the, aparently touchy, rider to hurry off before X'amor could talk to him. B'vin hadn't been paying much attention to anything as he grumbled to himself after an encounter with a weyrling. The new rider had thought that just because he was a holder's son that he shouldn't have to muck out his dragon's area, that "that's what drudges were for". He'd set the sharding fool right and assigned him some particularly dirty chores to change his attitude, but the whole arguement had set him in the wrong mood. It was that sort of thing that B'vin didn't like... why he wanted to be back in a proper wing, and not sitting on a bunch of weyrbrats who got lucky.
X'amor noticed that the greenrider wasn't in the best of moods, and half of him considered coming back another time, but his resolve to speak with B'vin was in him and he didn't know how soon he would be a ble to get the guts to do it again. "Hey B'vin, can I talk to you for a minute?" He looked up when his name was called and was momentairily dumbstruck as he recognized the bluerider. "Yeah, sure." was all he could think of as a reply as his hand spasmed involuntairily at the remembered touch between them. X'amor walked over to B'vin and sighed, "Listen, I, well, I just wanted to say I was sorry for making you uncomfortable at the party." he paused to try and remember all things he had wanted to say, "It's just that I didn't know you were any different than any of the other greenriders, and I just wanted to say that I like that. That you're not trying to jump into any one's arms that are offered to you, it's well, commendable." he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "I guess what I'm really trying to say is, if you wouldn't mind giving me a chance to get to know you better, and you get to know me, I can prove to you that I'm not like all the other blueriders either" B'vin furrowed his brow as the man rambled on, "What?" he finally asked when he'd finished, his voice was tinged with annoyance, but he was more confused and a little flabbergasted as to why the bluerider was trying to continue from the waterball game party. The bluerider could have cried but he stayed composed, "I guess, I'm sorry about making you uncomforatble, and if you wouldn't mind I'd like to be your friend," he sighed at the likley hood of that, "if you'll let me." He felt so lame saying the simple words but he couldn't think of anything else to say to express how he felt. He could have written a song but felt that B'vin wouldn't have responded well to that. B'vin wondered if it was a joke, if someone put the bluerider up to this conversation. People didn't just walk up to him and ask to be friends...not to _him_. X'amor hadn't really seemed the pranking type though when they'd first talked at the waterball party, maybe he was serious. It was still a strange experince for B'vin though, and he almost blew him off, but then he thought about what D'cal had said. That he had to trust people, to let them into his life so he wouldn't be alone. "I guess." he finally answered, shrugging like it didn't matter to him either way, "I'm not a very _good_ friend though, I'm sure you could find better." X'amor sighed, letting out the breath he had been holding, "Hey, I'm trying to work on being a friend to people too. We can work on it together." he smiled brightly at the greenrider. B'vin was still slightly suspicious that this was some sort of trick, so he gave another non-committal shrug. "I was going to get a drink."
X'amor considered this for a moment, "Well, I think I could go for a drink.
But I can't stay for long, I've got some chores around my weyr that haven't been done in a while." "I have to go back to my weyr first and drop my gear off, so nevermind." So much for trying... A warning sound went off in the bluerider's head as he heard the tone in B'vin's voice. "Um, well hey, my weyr can wait. I'll meet you down at the Dinning cavern if you'd like?" he almost offered to invite the greenrider to his weyr but figured that wouldn't go over well, seeing as B'vin was already suspicious enough it seemed. B'vin let a small smile escape to his face. "Okay then, I'll see you in awhile." X'amor saw the smile and couldn't hide his own that broke across his face. "Great! I'll see you there in a bit." he shook B'vin's hand heartly and then headed towards his weyr. Feeling very concious of his dirty, sweaty clothes, he wanted to clean up a bit before heading down to the dining caverns.
