Date: month 1, day 6 of Turn 4

X'amor couldn't believe that he was being so picky about his weyr. The bluerider had invited B'vin to play cards at his weyr and then realised that it was a mess. He didn't have much in his weyr but he had spent the next twenty minutes picking it up and putting things away.

The young rider sighed as he looked around his weyr, finally happy with the way it looked, when he heard a knock at his weyr's door.

B'vin cleared his throat as he waited at the door. He had grudgingly accepted X'amor's invitation, but was now starting to regret it. He was still a bit weary of trusting the bluerider, and it just seemed all around safer to keep him and everyone else for that matter, at arms length. When the door opened, he gave the bluerider a nod and a "Hey", and walked inside.

X'amor smiled warmly at B'vin when he opened the door. A small pesimistic voice in his head had been telling him that B'vin wouldn't show up. X'amor would then have felt like he was being too nosy if he then tried to find the greenrider to figure out why he hadn't shown up.

He walked to the couch where he had set two glasses. Not elegant wine glasses, with long necks mind you, just regular glasses, and a bottle of wine. It was a bottle X'amor had had for a while and hadn't really had a chance to drink, so he figured that since it was at it's prime it would be best to drink it sooner than later.

He poured some wine into the glasses and looked at the greenrider, "So what game shall we play?" he pulled his deck out of his pocket having made sure not to misplace them when he had found them while cleaning.

B'vin shrugged and took the wine, maybe a little would help him relax.
"Raiders and Guards? Four Holds? Whatever, I don't care."

X'amor nodded at the second suggestion, "Four holds is a good one, lets play that." He shuffled the cards a few times, "Hows the wine?"

"Better than what I usually drink." He said after he guzzled down the cup. He watched the bluerider deal out the cards and took his hand.
"Are we playing for ante?"

X'amor shrugged, "Sure." he took a few long sips of his wine and refilled the greenrider's glass.

B'vin realized he only had two marks on him, but that would be plenty for the evening, Four Holds wasn't exactly a quick game. "How about an eighth mark per game?"

The bluerider nodded, that was reasonable enough. "Sounds good to me..."

*~*

Two hours and alot of wine later, B'vin was broke. "Well, that's it for me. Next time we play Raiders and Guards... and you don't get to liquer me up." he joked while standing.

X'amor grinned as he pocketed his marks. He didn't consider himself a good card player, only playing with friends, but B'vin had been right.
With the greenrider sipping wine, X'amor had been able to get the marks easily. "It's a deal then."

He had had a few drinks himself, and was glad that he didn't have to leave to find his way to his weyr. Not wanting his friend to think him rude X'amor got up as well, though a little unsteadily, "Do you want me to make sure you make it to your weyr? After all that wine I wouldn't want you stumbling into someone elses weyr." He put his hand on B'vin's shoulder, the evening had gone well, the greenrider had loosened up and X'amor was glad.

Normally, contact like that would have made B'vin stiffen, but now he just waved him off and headed for the door. "Nah, I'll find it eventually. See you later X'amor."

The bluerider followed B'vin to the door of his weyr that led out into the halls. "I'll be looking forwad to that rematch."

"Ha! You say that now... you won't be so smug once I take all your marks next time." He gave one last wave and walked a bit wobbly down the corridor. Now if he could only find his weyr...

X'amor smiled and shook his head. He was glad that B'vin had felt comfortable enough to loosen up a bit. He could tell though that it was going to take a while for them to be _good_ friends.
