N'kalen took his food and looked for a spot to eat. He spotted X'amor with some room beside him, and hurried over.
X'amor inclined his head to his fellow bluerider as the man sat down. His mouth was full of food, so once he finished chewing and swallowed he smiled, "Hey there N'kalen, how's it going?"
N'kalen thunked his tray down and smiled. "Good X'amor, how're you?"
The bluerider shrugged, "I'm fine, nothing much going on in my life." that was a bit of an understatement, but compared to most poeple's lives his wasn't that interesting or special. "How 'bout you?"
"Busy trying to study when we are not out flying. A few snatches of reading here and there are about all I can manage." N'kalen started to eat gingerly.
X'amor nodded in understanding. He hadn't been doing so well studying on his own for harpering. He figured he would find time to catch up once he stopped being so busy. "Yeah time for studying always seems to be hard to find."
"I do like to keep up with my craft when I can. Hopefully I can advance further in it."
Once again X'amor nodded, "What rank are you?" he made a slight effort to see the other bluerider's knots but let the man answer for himself.
"I'm a Junior Journeyman. I started training back when I was 12 turns.
Now that I am a rider, it comes in quite useful!" N'kalen grinned ruefully.
X'amor smiled at the other rider's happy attitude, "I'm sure it does!"
"How is your studying going?"
X'amor sighed as he finished chewing a bight, "Not so good. I've just been so busy. I mean, I still get some writing in every other evening but it's hard to find time to go get training. I guess it should be easier, what with the Harper Hall here and all, but interestingly enough I still haven't gotten around to scheduling in some classes." he shrugged as he reached for his drink, "I guess that's what happens when you're a rider."
"The dragons come first, as it should be."
X'amor nodded once more and a silence fell over the two as they ate and thought.
Finally X'amor spoke up, "Are greenriders confusing to you at all?"
"Depends. Are you talking the male or female variety? Or both?"
X'amor grinned weakly, "Oh, I don't know, both I guess. Mainly the men...I guess the men."
"Mmm, men. I have a certain expertise with male greenriders. What would you like to know?" N'kalen smiled. The lad was good looking, and could be fun to take to bed.
X'amor saw the look in the other bluerider's eyes and decided to ignore it, he wasn't trying to get the man to bed him, he was actually interested in his opinion. "Well, I guess, I mean, are most of them _really_ uncomfotable with... who they are?"
"Well, some are, I think. Most aren't. I know many more blueriders who are uncomfortable with Impressing a blue than those that are uncomfortable Impresssing a green. But I also think it passes in time." N'kalen casually studied the lad. What kind of guidance did he need?
X'amor nodded, what the other rider said made sense, it was his personal understanding as well. That was why B'vin was _so_
frustrating and confusing for X'amor. "I'm just worried about my friend, he acts so... angry about his feelings... I don't know... It's a weird feeling, like he wants me but then finds such a thought repulsive and so completely turns me away," he shook his head, "I guess that's _just_ what he's thinking, I just... have a hard time thinking that someone can ignore what their dragon's color obviously means." he had almost forgotten he was talking to any one in particular but had spoken his thoughts outloud as if doing so helped him break the riddle.
"Acceptance comes easier for some than others. Your friend...might need to speak with a mindhealer. It is something you might want to think about talking to him about." N'kalen sighed. "I'm weyrbred and have always known who I am. It is much harder for those that haven't had that freedom."
X'amor nodded, "I guess you're right. It's just hard..." he let himself trail off as his thoughts turned inward.
N'kalen nodded in sympathy. "Relationships can be hard. Especially if one is not accepting their own self."
X'amor looked up, realizing the other rider had said something, and nodded as his brain absorbed what N'kalen had said. He looked down at his plate and found himself not all that hungry. He'd eaten half of what had been in front of him but the conversasion had somewhat ruined his appetite. "I think I'm done eating," he tried to lighten his voice, "Thanks for talking with me...maybe you could stop by my weyr sometime for wine or something."
"That sounds enjoyable. You can always have your dragon bespeak Myanth if you need to talk." N'kalen finished his last few bites and stood. "I've got to get to studying."
X'amor got up with the other bluerider and inclined his head, "Well, expect an invitation soon." he smiled, "Sounds like you need a bit of a break from your studying."
