Description: F'melar and E'naer talk as their dragons hunt.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 1, day 24 of Turn 4

F'melar watched as Oemorth dove at the herdbeasts, circling almost lazily as they stampeded as he waited for one to separate itself from the herd.
It only took a moment for one to stray, and Oemorth neatly snatched his meal. F'melar grinned as his lifemate settled down a moment later to enjoy his meal, happily watching a few greens also diving over the herd.

}:This is good.:{ Oemorth said contentedly. }:You should eat.:{ F'melar chuckled. **I'll eat later. I haven't got the jaws to chew that mouthful of yours anyway.** He leaned against the fence, watching another greenrider dismount and send his lifemate to hunt.

Eillispeth hoovered over the pen, carefully choosing her prey.
**Aren't we a picky lady today,** E'naer teased her, but the green didn't dignify him with an answer. E'naer went to join the other rider's company, just as Eillispeth dove and picked up a young herdbeast from the herd. "Hi there," E'naer greeted. "Hello." F'melar said pleasantly, still watching Oemorth and the greens over the herd.

E'naer watched them too. "Is he showing off a bit for the ladies?", he asked.

Oemorth was up again, circling the stampeding herds intently before tucking his wings into another dive. F'melar grinned. "Not really, but then, what dragon doesn't?" he glanced over his shoulder at the greenrider. "F'melar, Oemorth's rider." He offered.

"E'naer, green Eillispeth's rider. Pleased to meet you," the greenrider replied. "That's a fine looking lady you have, E'naer." He complimented, trying not to laugh as Oemorth's eyes followed the last green in the air still, the herdbeast still partly in his mouth as he landed. **You'd better eat that before it drops.**

"Thank you. She hopes that Oemorth notices that too," E'naer said and almost laughed when he noticed how his lifemate was trying to eat as cleanly and daintily as possible. F'melar chuckled. Oemorth was eating again, and the green wasn't the only dragon taking pains to be neat now, although he wasn't a messy eater to begin with. "I think he does."

"Yes," E'naer agreed and chuckled. "You are new here?" he asked.

"Yes. Just transferred in."

"In that case, welcome to the Dragonsfall Weyr. Where do you come from?"
E'naer said and asked. "Rising Moons Weyr." He said after a pause. Oemorth snorted derisively into his heardbeast when he hesitated, getting blood all over his nose.
F'melar tried not laugh as he continued. "Just needed a change of scene."

E'naer never had felt any need to change scene, so he had nothing to say to it. Instead he moved to other subject. "Do you have a craft?" F'melar stiffened, but answered anyway, chastizing himself. He had to get used to it, he reminded himself. No one here knew why he'd been avoiding mention of his lost career. "Yes. Junior Journeyman Harper. You?" He said, more shortly than he'd intended.

"Dragonhealer. I started out as a healer and switched to dragons after Eillispeth had picked me out," E'naer answered, not noticing the other's curt manner. "A good craft, with Thread falling. I'm sure you get lots of practice."
F'melar observed.

"Yes, and it's handy too when you work with weyrlings," E'naer said. "I can see that." F'melar agreed, relaxing a bit again. "Weyrlings certainly do get into all kinds of trouble."

"Yes they do," E'naer chuckled. "But they are still a good bunch of kids."

"They keep you up at night?" He asked with a grin for old memories. "I know I did to my weyrlingstaff."

"Just the juniors," E'naer chuckled. F'melar snorted. "I'm sure the seniors have their share of troublemaking."

"Yes, but not in the night time. They have other interests for the nights," the greenrider said with meaningful smile and rise of his eyebrowns. F'melar laughed. "I'm sure they do." He agreed. "Are there a lot of troublemakers in this group? Or do they all quietly follow orders and create their problems where you can't see them?" "Not too many troublemakers. Few attitude problems and so forth," E'naer shrugged. "There always are." F'melar commented neutrally. "Do you ever get tired of dealing with them?"

"Hasn't happened yet," E'naer smiled. F'melar snorted. "Better you than me then. I'm afraid I'd strangle someone after a while."

E'naer grinned. "I'm not the strangling-them-kind of type." "That's why I'm not on the weyrlingstaff." F'melar said with a thin smile.
It had been a near enough thing...
