J'darin

J'darin

The great bronze landed very expertly, and his rider dismounted to fix the rest of the class with a smile and an expansive gesture of congratulations for D'cal and Aosorath. "We have our first successful trip /between/, weyrlings. Now who's next? D'ren?" The Weyrling stepped forward. "Yes, sir." His excitement was tinged with a bit of nervousness. There was a real danger of not returning from /between/.

}:Don't worry. We will come back. I know we will!:{ Menanth told his rider confidently.

A deep sigh of worry crossed the Weyrlingmaster's face, though he quickly hid it from the calss, and he listened to Hasaarth for a moment as his own bronze talked with his younger cousin. D'ren and Menanth would replace their badly devastated leadership someday soon, and their training had to be the best. }:Do not worry! Menanth can do this. He is a very good bronze. Like me. :{ Reassured and chuckling faintly, the Weyrlingmaster smiled encouragingly at D'ren. "Alright then, bronzerider. Do I need to repeat any of the instructions, or are you comfortable mounting and meeting us in the air?" He pointed up. "We can meet you in the air, sir." D'ren said, returning the smile. He mounted his dragon and double checked the straps before taking to the air. There could be no room for mistakes, not today. J'darin remounted Hasaarth at that, nodding. A few moments later, Hasaarth sent the picture to Menanath as they hovered, passing on J'darin's message through their dragons.
**Tell them to take the picture from you, and when my hand drops.. go /between/**

Hasaarth made sure the young pair was ready, then J'darin's hand dropped, and the second pair of riders disappeared into the chill of /between/ on this red letter day for all Weyrlings. Utter darkness and breathtaking cold enveloped D'ren. It was unnerving to say the least, but he held firm to the image of their destination. }:I am here, always.:{ Menanth assured him. **I know.** One . . . two . . . three, and they burst burst back into warmth and light. }: We made it!:{ The young bronze said to both his rider and Hasaarth. }:Well done!:{ came Hasaarth's warm congratulations. J'darin's mind soared with relief and pride. Another one successful so far. Through his dragon, he went on talking to the young pair.
**Tell them they are free to make the return visualization, but that they should share it with you first. If its crystal and clear, they can return to the Weyr at any time!**

**Can you see it Menanth?** D'ren asked his dragon as he pictured the Weyr.

}:Yes, very clearly. Just as we have practiced many times.:{ The bronze's tone was warm with pride. }:I will show Hasaarth.:{ Menanth passed the visual on for approval.

}: You have both done very well! My rider and I are pleased.:{ came Hasaarth's warm approval, along with his rider's, then the bronze gave his approval of the image and took he and his rider /between/ to the Weyr. Pride and accomplishment surrounded them as they appeared at the place they'd left. Two successful trips in a row for _his_ Weyrlings. Hasaarth landed near the rest of the group, all of them looking eager to take their turn as they awaited D'ren and Menanth to join them. The Weyrlingmaster dismounted and moved to the small group of boys and girls. He was going to give D'cal and D'ren the rest of the day off while he worked with the others. When they appeared again in the air over Dolphin Cove, D'ren let out a small sigh of relief. They had made two successful trips. **We did it Menanth!**

}:Of course we did.:{ The young bronze said as the pair landed beside the others. J'darin stood talking with the other Weyrlings and when D'ren and Menanth returned, he raised his voice. "D'ren, you and D'cal did wonderfully! You may stay to watch the rest of your clutchmates, or you may have free time. Spend it studying or with your dragons, but you are
-not- to go /between/ any more today. Understood?" "Yes sir," D'cal replied, a smile creeping across his face. His fingers reached out to stroke his blue lifemate's eye ridge. **Soon we will be free to go anywhere we want together. We did well today!**

D'ren nodded. "Yes sir. Thank you." He thought he might stay and watch his classmates for a while. Just to see if they came through alright.

J'darin smiled at both of them, then turned his attention to the next volunteer, the young brown Weyrling, I'ster, that D'cal and D'ren had protected so well during the first months of training.
