N'call

N'call

Aileyan was washing her green at the weyrlake and her son was helping her. Well, actually, the toddler was just splashing in the shallows while she scrubbed Kjarliheth. Ravyan couldn't swim, but he was totally fearless when it came to water. N'call led Haloth down to the lake to bath. Haloth saw the small green and suantered over, a male if there ever was one. N'call was slightly relieved to see a woman washing the dragon. He had nothing against male greenriders, but he didn't take to kindly to their flirting.

"Apparently Haloth has taken a liking to your green." He called as he climbed up onto Haloth's back to begin scrubbing. "I'm N'call."

"Everyone takes a liking to Kjarliheth," Aileyan replied with amused tone. "I'm Aileyan and that little water beast is my son Ravyan." Her green had responded to Haloth's attention with a flirt of her own.

N'call gave the boy a broad wink and a funny face, which made Ravyan laugh. "You helping your mommy wash her dragon?" He asked.

The boy gave a vigorious nod. "He doesn't talk much yet," Aileyan informed N'call. "I see." He went back to scrubbing Haloth's back. The bronze rummbled in pleasure as he sunk into the water, causing his rider to hang on for dear life. "Whoa mister. Do you have to make a comedy act of everything?" He asked the bronze chidingly.

}{ was the simple reply. N'call chuckled.

Aileyan found herself smiling at it despite everything. "I'm sorry for this bronze colored oaf I call my dragon." N'call patted Haloth's hide affectionately. "He has a habit of being a clown."

"Oh, don't apologize for that, " Aileyan said, still smiling. N'call said in a loud whisper, "Shh, don't encouage him." Haloth turned his head up to look at his rider, drawing attention away from th tail he sneaked up behind N'call.

Aileyan giggled. What an amusing pair they were! N'call seemed not to notice the tail sneaking up behind him as he attempted to stare down his dragon. At the last second N'call jump up and Haloth's tail wrapped around open air as N'call slid down his dragons side into the shallow water. "Ha, I've known you to long to fall for that you bronze oaf." Haloth opened his wing knocking his rider over into the water. N'call came up sputtering. "Of course, he has to get me wet before I can get him wet."

}:Of course.:{ Haloth said.

"Don't get any ideas," Aileyan warned her lifemate, while still laughing at the bronze pair's antics. "See now you've given the poor green ideas. I'll never here the end of this." N'call said in a mock angry voice.

"He's funny man, isn't he?" Aileyan turned to talk Ravyan and then noticed that the boy was missing.
"Ravyan? Where did he go?" }: He went under the water, :{ Kjarliheth told her helpfully, not realizing the danger. "RAVYAN!" Her scream was hysterical. N'call didn't even wait. He dove under the water, his eyes stinging as he kept them open. The ripples he left soon faded out and for what felt like an eternity the water remained unbroken. But then the glassy surface erupted and out flew N'call, Ravyan in his arms. He swam the rest of the distance to the shallows where he could put the lad up on dry land.

Aileyan rushed to sweep her son up to her arms. She hugged the little boy close to her chest. "Ravyan, don't do that again. You just added twenty turns to my age," she scolded, her heart still bounding with the fright. She tried not to show how horrified she was, so they boy wouldn't get scared and develop a fear for water. N'call slowly got to his feet. Haloth sniffing his wet rider in mild distress. "What, you don't look a day over 60." He said with a sarcastic smile, rubbing the soaked boys head. "Next time you plan on swimming lad, make sure its _above_ the water."

The boy just grinned happily. On whim, Aileyan went to and planted a kiss on N'call's cheek. She had to stand tip-toe to reach him. "Thank you." N'call grinned. "I should save ladies children more often." He said jokingly. "If thats how they thank me."

"I hope that it won't be needed," Aileyan said vaguely. She took a towel and started to rub her son dry. The little boy squirmed and giggled. "Neither do I." N'call said as he handed her another towel for the lad's hair. "I much rather prefer _dry_
kids." He poked at the boys belly with a grin on his face.
