Just a Pleasant Diversion

Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 4, day 4 of Turn 4

"That was a pleasant enough diversion." Tamaca's arms reached above her head, stretching her body feline-like before she turned and rose to sit on the edge of the bed.

"Diversion?" L'kel regarded her through half-lidded eyes, his own body heavy with exhaustion. "It was shardin' incredible!"

"If you say so," the young woman laughed, bending to pick up her pants and glancing around to try to locate her other clothing.

"It was a flight, Tam - and a goldflight at that." The bronzerider stared smugly up at the ceiling, his arms folded to support his head. "With Ghareth's influence, I out-lasted any other partner you could have found."

"I'm not denying your stamina, L'kel, but it was but it was." She tossed her head, her hair swinging freely as she regarded him over her shoulder. "Sex, L'kel - nothing more. And to me, sex is a diversion." She rose lithely to her feet and stepped a few feet from the bed, bending to retrieve her shirt.

He rolled to his side, propping his head on one hand. "You crave sex, Tamaca. I've watched you on the prowl and you seem to take it very seriously."

"I take my free time very seriously," she admitted, "and it just so happens that sex is one of my hobbies." Still naked but clutching her shirt and pants she looked around the room. "I assume that my underclothing didn't survive?"

The dragonrider shook his head. "I was in a bit of a hurry ."

"So I noticed," she chuckled.

"I made up for that, didn't I?"

"Of course." Her reply was light as she pulled on the garments that remained. "I'll stop by my room and get clean clothes on the way to the bathing pool."

"Why not stay?" He reached for her but she was out of range.

"Better to go," she answered. "I'd not want you to get tired of me."

"I'm far from tired of you. In fact, I could probably go again."

"Maybe later." She finished buttoning her shirt.

"Just think, Tam," his eyes watched her, fascinated by the energy she still possessed, though she had definitely expended large amounts during their time together. "Maybe in this clutch you'll find your lifemate. If that happens, and Ghareth catches her, we'll have an even better time."

"If it happens, it happens," she replied and started toward the door. "I don't plan ahead for such things."

"But you'll Stand?"

"Of course." Tamaca regarded him with amusement. "As long as I'm eligible I'll Stand. I fill my life with as much fun as possible, but I take my duty seriously."

"How about coming back here tonight?" He tried to boost himself to a sitting position but was feeling extremely tired.

"Ask me at dinner." She winked as she slipped out the door, reminding herself to grab some food to eat in her room. He _had_ been a pleasant diversion, but no one could make such claims on her time - or on her.
