"Pulia, see the rest of those pies come out just as I told you and don't you dare leave them in to overcook this time," Jilynn warned the kitchen drudge. Holzun, did you bring in those cuts of heardbeast yet?"

"Yes'm."

"Very good," she offered a smile for the rather shy man. "Madya," she turned to the older woman who had been eversomuch help to her in the kitchens of late, "You'll see that those are prepared just as we discussed, I've left the herb rub just over there,"
she pointed to the counter.

"'Course I will," was the older woman's rather gruff reply. "Where you off to?"

"Nilly should be nearly done with the inventory of the herbs and I want to check on her, then I'm headed up to see that those rooms off the east corridor were put back together properly after their repair," she answered the other woman while noticing the kitchen had become unnaturally quiet. Jilynn turned to see the Lord Warder at the door.

"Lord Warder Ishek, what a pleasant surprise," she said offering him a genuine smile, "Is there something we can do for you?"

"I'd like to speak with you." Ishek answered. "Would you mind stepping outside? This shouldn't take too long."

"Certainly," Jilynn replied, her brow furrowing as she tried to imagine what might be wrong. She went over the various projects about the Hold that she was overseeing. Perhaps there was another project the Lord Warder needed overseen. Once they were away from prying eyes and ears, Jilynn looked up expectantly to see what Ishek needed.

"You handled things quite well in there." Ishek began, watching Jilynn closely. What he had heard before he showed up at the door proved that. He wanted to see her reaction to everything he said. "You've been one of those sharing part in the Headwoman's job, correct?"

"One of many, yes," she answered, not certain what he might be getting at.

"But you're the one I keep hearing about." he informed her. "I've heard some nice reports, including from those you share the work with."

Jilynn could not help but to be a bit embarrassed by the compliment and was not quite certain what to say.
"Thank you, but I think _everyone_ has pulled together nicely to do what's best for the Hold," she finally managed.

"The Hold needs that kind of leadership." Ishek said evenly. "It needs a steady Headwoman to oversee it.
I'm offering you the position, if you'll take it."

Meeting the Lord Warder's eyes, Jilynn was somewhat slow to respond. Unfulfilled dreams from what seemed a lifetime ago rushed to her conscious mind and she felt a sense of elation, but was quick to temper this reminding herself why the position was now available.
"I'd be most honored to accept the position," she finally answered, "And will do my best to give the Hold what it deserves."

"I think you'll do fine at the job." Ishek assured her. "You can receive the knots later today or tomorrow, whichever is best for you. Just come by my office to get them. Also, your promotion is effective now. Tell the others in the staff so they know who to report to."

"I'll see to that, thank you sir." Jilynn replied calmly, though nothing inside of her felt in the least bit calm. She was rather certain that she would find life turbulent for some time to come.
