Healers pitying looks...

Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr

Odarian was working a late shift in the infirmary. While taking a break from organizing bandaging he peered into the wards, checking that most of the patients were sleeping. He was about to walk away from one when it appeared the patient was stirring. Odarian stepped inside, to see if the tall rider would need anything.

"Good evening," he said softly, not wanting his voice to travel and wake others up.

"Hey" B'vin answered sleepily. Looking around, he noticed that it was dark, and gave a little grunt that once again he had been unable to sleep through the night.

**Hope I didn't wake him** Odarian thought but he walked in.
"Anything I can help you with?"

He licked his dry lips and motioned to the pitcher on the table. "Can you hand me some water?"

"Just wait a moment," he said trying to quietly walk over to the pitcher. Taking the mug to the side he filled it, while continuing to speak. "Here you go, having trouble sleeping?"

B'vin took a long sip, letting the water circle in his mouth before swallowing. "Yeah, but it's nothing out of the ordinary. I have trouble getting comfortable is all."

"Oh, Sorry about that." Odarian took the seat by B'vin's side. "Is there any way I can make you more comfortable? I might be able to scrounge a pillow or something."

"No, that's okay. How long before breakfast?" he asked, knowing that with it came the bitter drink that dulled the ache even though it was no longer strong enough to knock him out.

"I'm sorry," Odarian shook his head, "Breakfast is hours away yet, but I could try to get something from the night hearth, if you were hungry."

"Never mind, I was just curious is all." he waved away the offer.

"Well, if there isn't anything then... do you want me to leave you to sleep? If you wanted a friendly ear though I could stay a little longer."

B'vin thought he heard pity in the healers voice and that annoyed the injured greenrider. He might not be able to do much right now, but he was improving and would soon be allowed to go back to his weyr. He was strong and he didn't need anyone's pity. "No, go back to your duties.
I'll be just fine."

Odarian nodded, getting up. "Alright, I guess the supply cabinet will be getting bored without me." He stopped before leaving. "I'm around if you need something."

B'vin nodded and closed his eyes. He had better try and get some more sleep since he had therapy in the morning. He was determined to regain the use of his leg so he could leave the infirmary and get away from sharding healers and their pitying looks.
