Toriat was waiting by the winter lake, trying to not look conspicuous.
He wasn't typically in this area, since the lake was usually for those washing their dragons. He kept looking around, trying to catch sight of Teseada. He didn't want to go searching for her though, so he continued to wait, hoping to not run into anyone else.
"Looking for us?" Teseada was laden down with a couple of long handled brushes and a carisak of things that had come in handy when bathing Onnyth before. The gold herself was following behind, taking a great deal of pleasure in the fact that she was going to get a bath.
}:I need to look good, and be clean.:{
**You will be, and Toriat is going to help.**
"Yes," Toriat said with a smile, expelling the breath he had been holding. He immediately rushed forward to help Teseada with the several items she was carrying. "Here, let me help," he said.
"If you take those brushes," she said. "I can put this down, and introduce you two properly."
"Alright," he said, taking the brushes and shoving them under his arm.
He then turned, ready to face the dragonet.
"Onnyth love, this is my friend Toriat, and he's going to help us today."
The gold turned her head to the young man, looking him up and down imperiously. Her eyes remained clear, no whirling to show emotions.
Toriat gave a nervous bow to the young queen. He hoped the little dragon would not _not_ like him. "Good day to you Onnyth."
The dragonet looked him up and down, before inclining her head gently and gracefully. }:I like him. He can help.:{ "She says she likes you, and she would like you to help."
Toriat gave Onnyth a final low nod, "Thank you Onnyth, I will do my best." He shot Teseada a wide smile. Perhaps ammused by the little dragons mannerisms. "Would you two lead the way," he said pointing towards the lake. "I wouldn't know where would be a good spot."
"Right here is good," Teseada knelt down quickly and unfastened her boots.
"Hope you don't mind getting wet."
"Not at all," he replied, shedding a few layers down to his work clothes. "Cleaning dragonets can't be as messy as some of the other things I've done, so as long as it isn't too cold, should be fine."
Even though the indoor lake was warm from some heating, you could still get chilled if you hung around to long or dawdled. "The water shouldn't be too bad, not at this time of day, if the heating's working right."
"Thats a relief," he said stopping his mime of coldness. "Although I'm not sure I can trust the reliability of the heating mechanism. I heard the technicians lost one of their best apprentices to a dragon."
He was grinning although not looking straight at her.
"Ha, ha!" It wasn't the first time, and no doubt the last that she'd hear that.
Toriat pretended to look puzzeled. "What? Did I say something funny?"
He turned to Onnyth, "I don't think I understand your rider's sense of humor."
After a moment Teseada replied. "Onnyth said to tell you it's called irony.
Where she got that little gem from I don't know."
Toriat laughed genuinely. "She is a smart little thing isn't she?
Guess I can't fool either of you," he said waggling a finger at them.
"Well not her, anyway," replied Teseada as she got into the shallows and waved Onnyth in. "Come on lovely, lets get you clean."
Toriat He decided elected to not say the retort of, but I can fool you? that came to mind, since he had that one time, just to spend a little time together. He lifted the brushes up, asking. "Ok, what do we need, these?"
"Yup, just scrub up some of the sweetsand into a lather, and work it into her hide. She'll let us know if it doesn't feel right, or she's not clean."
"Sounds simple enough," Toriat responded while wading into the water.
He walked out to Teseada and offered both brushes. "Choose... your...
weapon."
She grinned as she took the brush. "Now no soaking Toriat, okay?" she asked of Onnyth.
The dragonet gave her a look, as if to say 'would I do that?'. Teseada was sure that Toriat could work out the meaning.
"Thats ok," Toriat sighed, seeing the innocent look Onnyth gave her.
"How about you step aside and let Onnyth splash me now to get it over with."
"Be careful what you ask for..." began Teseada as the dragonet swished her tail. Whilst growing steadily, the little one still had plenty of energy, and a fair amount of water went in both directions.
"Onnyth!"
Toriat just tried to shaking out some of the water, taking it in stride. But while Teseada was pointing her annoyance towards Onnyth he took a closer look at her. **I think Onnyth has disarmed her quite a bit** he thought briefly. "Wait a sec," he said, dashing out of the water to fetch her a towel. "I came prepared."
"Thanks," she said. "I needed that," the last was a little muffled as she brushed water off her face.
"No problem," Toriat said with a smile, trying to dry himself off a bit too. When she was done, he noticed a little moisture left on her forehead. "Looks like you missed a spot," he grinned lifting his towel to take care of it, if she assented.
"So I did," she said with a smile.
He used the bundled towel to gently poke her forehead. "There you go.
Now, lets get back to the scrubbing?" He trudged back into the lake towards Onnyth.
"Good idea."
