Description: A greenflight brings J'gen and Irlani together.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 14 of Turn 4
Gyta was with a beastcrafter who had volunteered their free time to teach her how to ride a runner and surely, by the time Irlani had made her way back to the weyr, having the time of her life. It was a rest day, but J'gen had an early morning shift in the infirmary. No rest for the healers. Alas, at least it wasn't the entire day. Ravyan was with his mother, so Irlani had the weyr to herself. She surveyed the scene and began to pick up. Yes she would sweep, perhaps mend that tear she had seen in that tunic that was hanging on the back of the chair. Then it would be time to go get her daughter.
J'gen had been about to return to his weyr to change his clothes. An
accident with the dragon dung pails and an incompetent Candidate had
necessitated a quick change of clothing, but he hadn't gone further
than a few paces from t he dragon cavern when Suuth had let forth a
bugle of intent and set aloft. It had been a few months since his
lifemate had wanted to participate in a flight, and J'gen wondered how
much of his own need had influenced the dragon. The more he was with
Irlani, the more his needs grew - and now he couldn't ignore them. He
pushed forwards into the crowd surrounding the green rider, chivying
with the other riders for the all important contact.
But it had done no good, neither he nor Suuth had had what it took,
this time. So with heightened awareness of loss he continued on his
way to his weyr, with Suuth's lingering arousal still in his mind and
body. Irlani and Gyta should be out at lessons, so he wouldn't have
to face either of them, he thought as he opened the door to his
quarters - and stopped.
"Oh, J'gen!" Irlani had just taken up a broom when she was startled by
the sudden appearance, and smell, of the bronzerider. "I was just
about to sweep up...what is that smell?" She crinkled her nose, then
motioned to the other room as she laughed. "You should change. I'm
certain the entire weyr can smell you...J'gen? What's wrong?" It
took a moment for Irlani to realise the expression upon his face, a
mixture of disappointment, desire, and surprise.
"I should go..." he began to turn away, but realised he still needed to
change. Seeing her there, he glanced around the room, "Where's Gyta?"
he didn't want his daughter to see him the way he looked right now.
He could see in Irlani's eyes that she knew what had happened, even if
she hadn't been outside and witnessed the grouping.
"She's with the beastcrafters." Irlani's voice was soft and her hands
clutched at the handle of the broom. "I was just going to clean up a
bit while she was gone. Yes...you really should change...before you
go."
He took a tentative step away from her, before turning back and pulling
her towards him. "Join me." it was more of an order than a request,
but his voice had become deeper with lust and the look her gave her
conveyed all that he was feeling at that moment. Had it been any
other time, he wouldn't have dared ask her or manhandle her in that
way, but the excuse of his dragons lost flight - surely she would
understand?
Irlani dropped the broom in surprised, her eyes widening at the desire
that rippled in his words. At first she pulled back, more of an
unthinking reaction than anything, but then she relaxed. She
remembered what her husband had been like after a lost dragonflight.
So, she stopped fighting and inched closer to him, breath quickening.
His lips clamped down on hers as he pulled her into his arms. He
murmured words of endearment against her mouth, as he edged them back
towards his room, kicking the door open with his foot he reached down
and scooped her into his arms and circling his bed, made towards his
bathing chamber.
Cleaning up was forgotten. All that existed was the man who held her,
the feel of his arms around her and the taste of his mouth against
hers. It was not what Irlani expected when she had returned to the
weyr - but she wasn't about to complain.
He dropped her lightly to her feet at the edge of the bathing pool, and
quickly stripped himself of his clothes, dropping the odd kiss on her
lips; his eyes never leaving hers - were heavy with desire.
Irlani opened her mouth to speak but she couldn't seem to find any
words, so she returned the kisses. When he was naked she moved
forward, the fabric of her clothing brushing against his bare skin, her
fingers dancing lightly over his shoulders.
He kissed her deeply, his hands holding her head gently but firmly, not
wanting to let her go. Eventually his hands travelled the length of
her body, reaching the waistband of her skirts. He nimbly released
the button and pushed the fabric down over her nicely rounded hips.
"You know I want you?" he asked, his voice barely audible so choked
with lust.
"That's rather obvious." The whisper was hoarse, her breath warm
against his ear. Yes, he wanted her, for she was the closest warm body
to him for the moment. Irlani wasn't going to lie, she was attracted
to the man and was taking advantage of his dragon lust. Yet, she
didn't hold any illusions that it was more than that. She wasn't going
to think about that though, but instead enjoy the moment.
Irlani didn't give J'gen a chance to say anything more. She helped him
get rid of the rest of her clothing while her mouth covered his own and
her hands began to sear a path over his skin, touching, stoking the
fire that was already burning brightly.
His hands caressed her bare flesh. Every inch of him was attuned to
her actions, the feel of her fingers across his back sent tingles of
excitement through his body. Wherever she touched him came alive. He
moaned deeply into her mouth, "Now..." he said, huskily.
* * *
His hands continued to smooth across her skin, more gently now. His
body was still thrumming with desire for her, though this time he
didn't think it had anything to do with Suuth's missed flight. He
nuzzled her throat as they lay on his bed, her skin was still warm of
the bathing pool, it was smooth to the touch and her scent filled him.
Irlani's lips curled up at his caressed and she wished she didn't have
to move. Alas, nothing could last forever, not even the pleasant glow
of their aftermath. A soft sigh escaped. Dragon flight, dragon lust,
that was all it was and nothing more. The foster mother pushed away
from J'gen and slipped off of the bed. "I need to go get Gyta."
"Wait!' he held onto her wrist, pulling her gently back toward him.
"Thank you...." he shook his head, "That didn't come out right.
Sorry." he tugged her until she sat back down on the bed, "I want you
to know... it isn't just Suuth's missed flight. It was an excuse, but
not the be all and end all of what.... of what we just shared."
If he hadn't taken hold of her, his words would have just done as well
to make her pause. She studied him for a moment, then slowly pulled
from his grasp. "I think your lust is still talking, J'gen."
"No!" he sat up, his hand loosening on hers, "Tonight, you'll have dinner
with us, please? And after, we can talk, once Gyta is in bed?"
"If you'd like." Irlani agreed, uncertain that it was truly more than
leftover desire plaguing him. Dragon desire could be a very powerful thing.
"But I do need to get dressed now and get Gyta before she thinks I've
forgotten her."
"Okay," he nodded, and released her wrist. "It's not just Suuth, you know."
he said earnestly. "I promise."
Irlani offered a hesitant smile before going to retrieve her clothing. Was
it just Suuth? Or was there more? Well, she would find out later when they
would both talk and neither of them would be under the influence of dragon.
