D'wrayt was in his office going over reports and other procedural hidework that fell to the Weyrleader to complete. His mind was wandering from what he was writing to the situation at Dolphin Cove and then to what had happened to U'kaiah. The hatching seemed to be the only thing that had gone well in the last few sevendays. His riders were tired, their dragons were tired, and even he was tired more often than not. He had checked in on the newest weyrlings after visiting U'kaiah this morning and they seemed to be adjusting to their new responsibilities. His thoughts kept wondering to anything not related to the work in front of him. Finally unable to concentrate on his work any longer, the Weyrleader decided he needed to distract himself from life for awhile.

**Calyth, would you please ask Jaela to meet in my office when she has a moment?** D'wrayt asked the gold after finding out that his bronze was busy feeding. He wanted to go somewhere, anywhere that would allow him to forget about responsibilities for at least a candlemark. Unfortunately, he couldn't just disappear and didn't want to go alone anyway.

It was less than half a candlemark before Jaela knocked on his door and entered, a small smile on her face. "Calyth said you wanted to see me?" He looked so somber--she just hoped it wasn't _more_ bad news regarding the wings.

He nodded and crossed the short distance between them. "I was trying to work and just can't concentrate. I need to get away for a bit and distract my mind from what's been going on lately. I thought that you and Calyth might want to come with us." he said embracing her gently in greeting.

She returned the hug. "Of course...it's been a while hasn't it?" They'd shared a bed, but no real time together. Between him leading the wings and worrying about things now that they were assisting Dolphin Cove and her being distracted by Calyth's being in clutch and other things, they'd spent no quality time together.

"Too long, I think. Where should we go?" he replied.

"Hmm..." She smiled, thinking of an area near her home hold he might enjoy.
"I know a place..but it's going to be my secret. Calyth can give the coordinates to Treadoryth..."

"Allright. Shall I find a bottle of wine and some food?" he asked knowing that he'd at least find the wine. What good was getting away if there wasn't any wine involved?

"Of course!" She pulled him down for a quick kiss. "Meet me on the plateau in half a candlemark!" She was going to grab a blanket and put her swimming gear on under her clothing...althought maybe she wouldn't _need_ it really.

"I'll see you there." he replied excited at the prospect of spending some uninterrupted time with his weyrwoman. He knew exactly who he needed to talk to in order to get a picnic basket and wine. The young cook would be able to find something for him in short order. He didn't care what as long as it was edible.

True to her word, Jaela was on the plateau and tying her contribution to their jaunt to Calyth tightly. She turned to smile at him. "Well, it's about time!"

The Weyrleader just grinned sheepishly and held up the picnic basket. "The cooks seem to think that I eat a lot everytime I request a meal. I don't always and today is one of those days. However, they insisted on giving us a whole plate of just baked sweet rolls." he said justifying his lateness as he secured the basket to the impatient bronze.

She laughed. "In that case, then it's my fault you're so late. The sweet rolls are for me!"

"I think _everyone_ knows how much you like sweet bread. Now, will you tell me where we are going?" he asked as he mounted Treadoryth who had the coordinates of where they were going from his mate.

She took her time in mounting Calyth, checking the straps. After having been grounded for so long she always seemed to check and double check straps for at least a couple sevenday after they were allowed to fly again. "Oh, I suppose...I figured we'd go to that one grassy area in Topaz Sea Hold territory...sound good?" She longed for the beach, but grass would allow for a more relaxed and comfortable picnic and she suspected D'wrayt needed rest most of all.

"That sounds absolutely perfect." he replied with a grin as his bronze moved restlessly. The bronze hovered in mid air near his mate before going /between/. They reappeared over the chosen spot and were soon dismounting.
