Description: D'wrayt barges into Jaela's office upset about the news about Traelyn
and she calms him down.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 8, day 3 of Turn 3
D'wrayt was so upset about the news that he just heard through the dragons that he didn't wait for Jaela to answer the door. He stormed into her office not caring if she was in the middle of something. "How could she not know that her gold was ready to rise? Why was she even at another Weyr?" he asked not even pausing to consider if his Weyrwoman had heard what had happened at Dolphin Cove.
Jaela winced. The bigger the man, the louder the voice when he got upset!
She slammed her filing cabinet closed. "Hmm...gross stupidity and lack of attention to her _own_ duties! I'm not any happier about this, D'wrayt, trust me!" The silly girl--woman really--could have endangered any other queen in residence at Dolphin Cove and it had only been Calyth's dismayed disclosure that had clued her into what little Ms. 'Everyone's Buddy' had done.
"I shouldn't take it out on you, I'm sorry. Is there anything we can do?" he asked his tone softer, but still agitated. He didn't think there was anything that could be done to rectify the situation, but he had to ask anyway.
She went to him, taking his hand and seating him in the chair before he walked a hole in the floor, before slipping onto his lap so she could look him in the eye properly. "I'm not sure what can be done. Apparently Moriath wasn't going to rise again, or that's what Calyth told me...Kalina was too injured." She closed her eyes, remembering her very frustrating but inherently good friend and former wingmate. "Traelyn completely ignored Nyith's signals and went to Dolphin Cove. I'd write a formal apology--she was our responsibility--but considering I'd now be apologizing to the very person who mucked this up and somehow benefited from it, I'm not inclined to." This strained even her diplomatic and strategic way of approaching things to the limit.
"Can we get a goldrider and Weyrlingmaster who will actually _stay_ and do their jobs?" he asked relieved that she was just as clueless on what to do as he was. They had managed to stabilize the Weyr's leadership for awhile now, but it would be nice to get some reliable riders into their crucial secondary leadership spots. Change was expected in the times they lived in and the possibility of death faced them all during Threadfall, but there was such a thing as too much change.
She quirked an eyebrow at him. "Is that rhetorical?" At this look she shook his shoulders playful. "D'wrayt, I refuse to mourn the loss of someone that irresponsible as my 'second....as to Weyrlingmaster, we'll _find_ one who works out. We've successful run this Weyr, no matter how many riders have failed us in the past or present. And that's that!."
For a moment, the bronzerider was quiet as he pondered her words. She made sense and there really wasn't anything that he could think of to argue his point if he even had a point to begin with. She had that effect on him when he was upset about something that was beyond his control. He tended to become irrational at times like this when he couldn't do anything to fix the problem.
"I can see that there's no arguing with you so I won't. There are much more fun things to do than argue about unimportant matters. Like having my way with you since you've kindly put yourself in my lap." he replied kissing her passionately before she could protest that there was work to be finished.
