Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 5, day 6 of Turn 4

}:Hanunth is sunning on the rim.:{ Gliorith informed her rider with weary patience. }:His is leaving the dining cavern.:{ Eleada blinked, and smiled to herself as she changed course to intercept R'mer as she crossed the weyrbowl. She'd been hoping to run across him so she could thank him for saving Adaric, but he'd been elusive. **Why don't you go sun next to Hanunth for a while?** She suggested.

}:He blocks all the sun!:{ Gliorith complained.

Eleada's smile became a grin, and a few moments later she spotted R'mer, leaving the Dining Hall as Gliorith had promised. "R'mer!" She called cheerfully. "Hey handsome, wait up!"

R'mer stiffened at the sound of his name. Shards, he knew that voice. He took a deep breath, trying to put on a neutral expression. **This is a Weyr. You had no right to hope...** "Eleada. Nice to see you."

Eleada ended her trot a few feet from him, grinning widely. "The same to you." She said warmly. "I've been looking for you."

"Oh? I've been busy," he shrugged, not quite meeting her eyes. "We've all been busy." She agreed with sigh. "I never expected I'd have to deal with hurricane damage the first few months when I left High Reaches."

"Yeah, I suppose not." Who had, really. "Have you been doing all right? I haven't seen you outside of drills."
She asked curiously, aware that something was wrong. He looked like he was trying to avoid talking to her. Was she delaying him from something?

He shrugged again, wishing he knew how to brush her off politely. "Oh I've just been... you know. Busy. I've been planning a trip to see my family." "Really?" She raised an eyebrow, remembering their last conversation about his family. "Are you just planning on visiting, or are you going to bring them?"

"Um, just visit this time. And try to get the farm and all the livestock ready to be sold. At least start the process. I really wouldn't have time for my family just yet. Being a new rider in the wings is much busier than I had thought." It seemed all the menial tasks were given to the new kids in the wing. "But they should be able to last until the cold season, especially since they don't have to save up stores for the winter."

Eleada doubted the advisability of waiting until the onset of winter to move his family, but as she knew almost nothing about cothold life didn't say anything. "Well, if you need any help, just let me know, R'mer."

"Thanks," he muttered softly. Shards, he wanted to ask her, but not after what he saw. Not after that sharding brownrider put his lips all over her. Still, who else was he going to ask. R'alt? No, R'alt was too busy banging every girl he saw, including Isie, if rumors were right. He needed someone... **Shards, its not Eleada's fault... She never promised you anything... It was probably your pathetic attempts at flirting that put her off. But how can I ask her now? Shards, its hard enough just standing next to her...** When did things get so complicated again?!

Eleada watched R'mer's face, a slight frown forming on her features. Something was bothering him. It wasn't hard to see. But whether it was really his family or something else she wasn't quite sure. "You're welcome. Are you sure you're all right? Is there something you'd like to talk about? Girl problems maybe?"

Girl problems? No, it seemed R'mer had graduated to woman problems. But he needed someone... He frowned as he looked down at the toe of his boot. "It's just... I want someone to go with me to my family's place. I want someone to know where they are in case... Well if anything ever happened to me... If I couldn't get them for some reason..."

Eleada felt her heart sink, bitter understanding flooding through her. R'mer was a full wingrider now. There was no hiding the danger they were in each fall, or how all to well how precarious their existence was. He saw it, fought it even as she did. The youthful innocence of the young weyrling she'd taken under her wing was beginning to fade.

"I understand." She said quietly. "I said I'd help any way I could, R'mer, and I meant it. When do you want to go?"

Part of him felt relieved, though another felt even more on edge. He had been avoiding her for a reason. Spending time with her again... There was no escaping it though. He had to get over her, like he was having to get over Isie. "The night before the next sevenday. I'll be staying the night and doing some work on the farm, so you wouldn't have to stay or anything. I just want someone to know where to go."

"I'll probably have to leave later that evening." She admitted, thinking of the never ending hidework in her weyr -and of B'ram. "But I'll be there."

Yes. He was sure she'd have evening plans. Maybe even morning plans. And afternoon plans... Shards, this was not a good idea. "You could come on the restday. I could give you the visual for it and you can come when you're... when you're free."

She shook her head. "I'd rather go with you. It's better to get the visual in person." She smiled radiantly at him, trying to cheer him up a little. The whole situation was obviously bothering him. "I want to help. And it's the least I can do for the man who saved my son."

And yet somehow that brownrider had seemed to walk away with the greatest reward. Some hero he had turned out to be. "After drills then?"

"I'll be ready." She promised, squeezing his shoulder. Then she cocked her head, studying him. "If you've got some time, would you like to get some klah and go hunting with me?" She offered. "I've been trying to have Gliorith hunt outside the pens since the hurricane, at least until they get the herds to a respectable size again."

R'mer really didn't feel like pushing it much further. It was going to be hard enough spending an evening with her, imagining that sharding brownrider with his hands all over her... Klah just might be a bit much. "I just ate, and so did Hanunth... Thanks, though."

"If you're sure." She said, still watching him. She would almost swear that he was trying to get away from her. "But the offer is still open. I wouldn't mind the company." She said lightly.

"Next time." He couldn't be with her without remembering the way she kissed that sharding brownrider. That would not make him the best of company.

"Next time then." She agreed, then did a sly smile. She may not be able to cheer him, but she knew perfectly well how to distract him. "But I did want to give you this..." She moved in close, wrapping her arms around the suddenly stiff bronzerider and whispering into his ear. "As a 'Thank You' for saving Adaric." And she kissed him, hard and passionate, using all her considerable skills to let her know how much what he'd done had meant to her.

R'mer's stomach flipped as he wrapped his arms around her. **She's just playing with you,** his mind warned. **She doesn't mean it.** But as much as his mind told him not to fall into that trap, his body responded to her and he willingly accepted, and reciprocated with equal passion, though a little less finesse.

She could feel him thawing in her arms and respond to her kiss, and she wanted to smile. It probably wasn't the best way to thank him, since she knew he'd had a crush on her, but it had certainly distracted him from his worries about his family for a few moments, which had been her goal. She let the kiss draw out until she had to slowly break away for air, and pulled gently away from him with a final light kiss on the cheek. "Thank you, R'mer." She repeated softly. "If it weren't for you, I'd have lost a son that day, and it's entirely possible the weyr would have lost me too."

She meant every word, and said them sincerely, holding his gaze. Given her frantic state during the hurricane after the discovery of her son going missing, she had no doubt that she would have done something immensely stupid while searching for him if R'mer hadn't stopped her.

The bronzerider's arms tightened around her slightly. "I'd never have let anything happen to you," he whispered softly.

"I know." She replied softly, gently disentangling herself from his arms. "You're a good man R'mer, and the best friend I have here." She smiled sadly, remembering the night he'd found her in the halls. Not everyone would have listened to her and taken her back to her weyr. She sighed then, hearing Gliorith's insistent bugle from the heights, and gave R'mer an apologetic look. "I've got to go. Gliorith is getting impatient."

"Yeah." And a sharding brownrider. "I'll see you around."

"I'll see you later."
