Description: K'hetah and J'darin visit Zelle at the same time.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 15 of Turn 5
How long had it been since the accident? Zelle couldn't say. They days were blurring together with only certain faces coming into clarity through the pain induced haze that seemed to hover during every waking moment. She couldn't remember who had come and who had gone and when save for a few in particular. K'hetah she had known, and J'darin as well as two or three more friends. J'darin and K'hetah in particular had been diligent in their visits, coming quite often. How often? Once a day? More? Zelle had lost count, couldn't keep count really - not in her current state.
J'darin arrived for his daily visit to Zelle, stopping to speak to the Healers first. She was not getting better at all, he thought, and was curious as to what _they_ thought.
Frowning, he headed toward her room, carrying a few flowers he and Hasaarth had gone to find.
As he walked, he thought he heard a familiar voice behind him, but paid it no heed. His mind was all for the greenrider he was visiting.
K'hetah wasn't going to shout but he quickened his pace to catch the other man. "Visiting Zelle?" he asked.
Startled out of his thoughts, J'darin turned to K'hetah. "Oh! K'hetah. Yes, I was. I guess you are too?" Almost as if he hoped it wasn't true. This would be funny if Zelle wasn't so badly hurt. "It's my area of expertise, after all," K'hetah pointed out. "I was a healer before I - and after I - Impressed."
J'darin peered at him for a moment. Was she just of passing interest to his healer training then, or was he more interested in her? But what he said out loud was something entirely different. "Ah, yes. I remember. Still find a little time, I imagine? Maybe you can put my mind at ease better than they did .. " He waved back toward the healers he'd talked to. "She doesn't seem to get better, to me." "No. The swelling in her back, especially will get worse before it gets better, and only when its gone will they know if there's any permanent damage. And _then_ all the muscles will have atrophied with all this time confined to bed ... You'd know about that from your own recent scoring."
"I know...but I was able to move around and go out to Hasaarth with help. She just doesn't seem willing... or able...." He sighed and looked away as they arrived at Zelle's room. What was she going to make of both of them here, at the same time? "Hmm.. maybe I should come back after you've gone, K'hetah. Both of us might be too much." He put his flowers out of sight, thinking he would bring them to her later. He wasn't whispering, so its possible his voice carried beyond the curtain.
"J'darin?" The call was soft, just audible from within. There was a pause and another name was added, "K'hetah?" Were they both there? She had heard both their voices. Was she dreaming? Sometimes she found it difficult to distinguish between her dreams and reality as of late.
"Zelle," K'hetah said, smiling and moving into the room Zelle occupied. "Both of us. How are you feeling today?"
"'Bout the same." Zelle managed a small smile thought she squinted as if her head hurt. Frankly, her entire body still hurt.
"Backs can be a bit slow to heal, and they're painful because everything seems to be attached to your back." K'hetah leaned down and kissed her cheek. "Do you want two visitors?"
J'darin would have bent to kiss her cheek as well, but K'hetah beat him to it. Instead, he set his small offering of flowers near her bed, and nodded in agreement with K'hetah. "I can come back later if you're only up to one of us at a time."
"No, that's okay. Stay." It was odd having both of them there, but Zelle didn't want either of them to leave. She enjoyed both of their company and having the two of them there might be more distracting than just one. "Sit down. Talk to me. How have you two been?"
"I'll get another chair," K'hetah said instantly, indicating that J'darin should take the one beside the bed. "But I've been fine." He winked at Zelle, "Lonely at night with nobody to call goodnight to," he added, ducking out of the room before she could reply.
J'darin peered confusedly after K'hetah for a moment, then finally took the chair while he was gone. He once again almost felt that he should leave, but instead he smiled down at Zelle. "Well enough, about like yesterday. Hoping you'll feel better soon."
"Give me a sevenday or so." It was going to be a lot longer than that - the healers hadn't hidden the facts from her, but Zelle tried not to think about the length of time. If she did, it just wound up depressing her.
K'hetah came back into the room carrying another chair and settled himself beside J'darin where it would be easy for Zelle to see them both. "Are you still sleeping all right?" he asked.
"For the most part." As long as she was doped up on fellis, Zelle was able to relax enough to sleep. Some of the time. There were still the occasional nightmares, the crashing, the falling, the piercing pain that was still present when the medicine she was given wore off. In earnest, Zelle wasn't sleeping as well as she could, but she didn't want K'hetah or J'darin to worry more than they already were.
"Sleep will help you heal. If you're not sleeping well make sure you tell the healers," K'hetah said gently. He decided then that he would peep in on her in the middle of the night to make sure she _was_ sleeping.
"Yeah. Sleep." That was about all she _could_ do. Zelle was loathe to sleep with both of them hear, but she was already feeling the tug of fatigue and she couldn't fight it much longer. "You guys will come back?"
"Of course we will," K'hetah promised for both of them. "Don't you worry about that."
"Of course!" J'darin echoed K'hetah, almost at the same time the Wingleader spoke. He would come everyday if she let him.
