Firon had a plan. After their romantic candlelight dinner in the winecellar, and the wonderfully exhausting night of 'dessert', he had thought that he would then bring her breakfast in bed, just to start the day of their thirteenth anniversary off right. But as he lay between the sheets and blankets with Ailyn, her body half draped over his and her warm breath still tickling the hairs on his chest as she slept, that plan went right out the window. He was not going anywhere. It was his anniversary too, and shard it all, he was going to enjoy a lazy morning in bed with the woman he loved.
Ailyn had actually been awake for a while now, but hadn't wanted to move. A slight smile tugged at her lips as she nestled more against his chest.
She wasn't sure if she _could_ move! Not after a night like that... "Mmm..." Shifting, she moved her head, propping her chin gently up on his chest so she could see if he was awake. And he was. Ailyn gave him a slow smile as her arm curled around his waist. "Mornin', husband."
"Good morning, wife," he said as he brushed back long black strands of hair from her face.
She leaned into his touch. "Mmm... That was...some nice dessert, Firon,"
she murmured, turning her head to kiss at his fingers.
'Nice' didn't quite seem to express his feelings on the subject, he thought with a chuckle. "Well, I have had a lot of practice over the turns."
Her eyes glinted into his. "Mmm-hmm... You're not the only one..."
He grinned. "Makes you wonder how good its gonna get in another thirteen turns, doesn't it."
Ailyn had the grace enough to blush. "Firon," she chided, but it was half-hearted. Leaning up, she kissed him.
"What," he smiled, completely incorrigible. "Don't _you_ think about what our lives will be like in another thirteen turns? I do."
"Of course I do, love. Hopefully by then, there will be a son - the spitten image of you - running amuck in our qaurters..."
"And a daughter too." He traced his fingers down her arm until he found her hand and he took it in his. "Ailyn, I know we talked about waiting.
About not starting a family until I had my Master's knots and time to devote to a family..."
She nodded, resting her chin back on his chest, looking up into his eyes.
"Well. I've been thinking..." He smiled as he released her hand and gently traced her cheek with his fingers. "I don't want to wait anymore. I want to have children with you, and that's more important to me than my masters knots."
Ailyn's face seemed to light up. Glowing, she reached for him, and found his lips in an enthuastic kiss. "Oh, love..." she whispered against his mouth, "that makes me so happy...."
Firon reached his hand under the pillow behind his head and pulled out a small black box. "Give me your hand and close your eyes."
She complied, her lips curving into a smile.
"No peeking," he grinned as he fumbled opening the box with one hand, his other wrapped around her warm body. Finally he was able to free the ring from the box. Firon smiled and kissed her lightly, whispering against her lips, "I loved you the day I met you... and I loved you the day I married you... I love you today... and I will love you as long as I live." He claimed her lips in a proper kiss as he slipped the band onto her finger.
"It's beautiful, Firon..." she breathed, looking down in awe at the jewel glinting on her finger. She'd never owned anything so fine! Meeting his eyes, she leaned closer to kiss him again, her arms wrapping around him. "I love you so much."
Firon and Ailyn traded loving looks, tender kisses and gentle caresses, basking in the wonder of each other, until finally it was too much and they reconfirmed their devotion to each other in the most exquisit ways.
