}:Mine would like to talk to yours,:{ Shalith said after they had been dismissed from drills.
There was a pause before Elleth answered, }:She says of course.:{ Meledei would have liked a shower, but Cosani had specifically requested her, so she waited. The girl grinned broadly as she approached Cosani. "Hey. Shalith said you wanted to see me."
"Yeah. It's silly, really ..."
"Oh?" Meledei tried to fathom what it could be, but nothing came to mind. Had something happened? "Go on, it's okay. Is something wrong?"
"Well, we'll be graduating soon, and we won't be in the same Wing." Meledei would go to Volcano, and Cosani didn't know where she would end up. Her voice dropped a little as she said, "You're the only real friend I have."
"We won't be in the wing." Meledei echoed as she slipped her arm through one of Cosani's. "But that doesn't mean we won't be friends. We won't really have time to spend together during drills, but we can definitely spend time together afterwards."
"You won't find better things to do?" Cosani asked. Goldriders had busy lives.
"I will always have time for my friends." That didn't mean she would be able to spend every day, but Meledei didn't want to ignore her friend. She'd make time for her.
"Thank you." She remembered how lonely she'd been at the hold, and how different things were now. Because of Shalith, she would never be alone again, and because of Meledei, she also had a friend.
Meledei laughed and squeezed her arm. "Come on. We should get some lunch before they stop serving it. You hungry?"
"Yeah. And if Elleth needs a bath, maybe we can wash our dragons together?"
"Of course!" Although Elleth was small, it was still always more fun to wash one's dragon with company. "You help me wash my dragon, I'll help you wash yours. Deal?"
Cosani nodded. "Deal."
"Good. Now...how about some lunch? I'm starving!" Meledei suggested.
