Characters: Jyramikah
Description: Ikoladith clutches in the middle of the night.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 9, day 24 of Turn 5
Notes: Mentioned/NPCs: Jyrakon, Akrona

Ikoladith had gotten so egg heavy in the past sevenday that she could
no longer fly the short distance to their weyr. Jyramikah knew that
the gold would be clutching any day now. She had moved some clothes
to the temporary goldrider quarters off of the hatching cavern and
started sleeping in there just in case the gold decided to clutch in
the middle of the night. She knew that at least one of the three
events was bound to happen in the middle of the night. Once it had
been the hatching itself, but most often it was the clutching or the
flight that occured when most everyone else was sleeping.

Ikoladith awoke from her spot on the Sands and knew that it was time
for her eggs to make their appearance. With a quick word to her rider,
the gold began the process of clutching the eggs that she carried.

Jyramikah woke up and stretched. She couldn't have been asleep too
long when the gold aroused her with the words it is time. Dressing
hurriedly, the goldrider made her way to the Sands and took a seat on
the Stands to watch her gold in action. The eggs were laid and
lovingly positioned before the gold moved on to the next one.

Yawning, Jyramikah decided that she would go get some klah and come
back. Ikoladith didn't need any help from her. **Darling, I will be
back. I need some klah this early in the morning.** she told the gold
who was nudging another egg into place.

}:Hurry back.:{ the gold replied as she paused to survey the progress
so far. She had quite a few eggs carefully placed among the Sands.

On her way back from the kitchens, Jyramikah stopped by to wake her
eldest son. She knew he would want to see the eggs. Her sister,
Akrona, was up with the baby. "Ikoladith is clutching." Jyramikah said
in explaination.

Akrona nodded, "He'll not want to miss that." she replied.

A sleepy Jyrakon in tow, the goldrider returned to the Sands to see
that her gold had almost finished from the looks of the eggs already
on the Sands. The boy grinned at the sight of the eggs. "How many are
there, mama?" he asked wondering if he would find a lifemate amongst
the eggs as it would be his first time to stand at a hatching.

"I don't know yet, let me count." she replied taking a quick tally of
the eggs. Once she had counted twice, she answered, "There look to be
thirty eggs on the Sands and Ikoladith is not finished."

After a few more eggs, Ikoladith laid down and informed her rider,
}:That is all.:{

**Wonderfully done, my dear Ikoladith.** she replied adding the last
three eggs to her tally bringing the total to thirty five eggs.

Jyrakon was amazed at the eggs, "Thirty five eggs! That is a lot of
eggs. Do we have enough candidates for them all?"

With a grin the goldrider replied, "If we don't right now, We will by
the time they hatch, I am sure. Would you like some breakfast son?
Ikoladith will want to rest and maybe she'll let you go closer to the
eggs."

Jyrakon brightened at the prospect of touching the eggs. He couldn't
wait to tell his siblings and cousins about seeing the eggs being
clutched. They hadn't gotten to see that yet even though they all had
seen a hatching with the exception of the youngest cousins.

Ikoladith closed her eyes after giving her eggs another glance. Her
mate was here and he would watch them while she slept. Her rider was
going to eat and would be back soon enough.
