G'nir

G'nir

G'nir was seizing up the competition when the riders gathered around the
petite greenrider. This was one of those mating flights G'nir hoped
Nirreth _would_ win. She was quite pretty and her cold attitude just made
her all more tantalizing. This was his chance to throw a wedge between her
and the wingleader...hopefully. In the end, it would be the preening green
who would make the choice.

Kjarliheth hissed challengingly to the males. }You have to work hard to
catch me! :{

Kalamath unfurled his massive bronze wings in response, crouching down low
so he could get a spring off the ledge. He would need every
advantage with this one. She was quick and agile, but he had caught her
before. But there was a young brown perched right next to him with a
fierce determination in his eye. He didn't have as much experience, but
Chairoth was lighter and faster than the bronzes. Not as quick or agile
as a blue, or the green herself, but he had good instincts he hoped would
make up for it.

Kjarliheth shot up to the sky, like an arrow loosed from a bow. Aileyan
watched her going, her heart in her throat, hoping her lifemate would
choose well.

Treadoryth glanced around at the other males who were waiting for the
lovely green to take to the skies. He was sure that he could win this
flight. He had chased many greens and golds alongside Kalamath. It would
be good to win a flight. His rider may not be in agreement, but he could
change his mind.

U'kaiah's lifemate had won Flights before over D'wrayt's bronze. Never
when it had counted, though. Never for a gold. Never for Jaela.
Aileyan was certainly not the tiny Weyrwoman, but she meant something to
the bronzerider. He wanted to wake up next to the greenrider. Glancing
over at his former Weyrleader and mentor, he felt that old familiar
rivalry once more.

L'rew, on the other hand, just wanted his brown to do well. He wanted to
show those bronzeriders that his Chairoth deserved as much respect as
their massive beasts. They might be a young pair, but they had something
to prove, and his feelings spurred his lifemate on to fly higher and
faster as he chased after the dancing green.

Kjarliheth was happy to notice she had attracted so many bronzes! But
then, why wouldn't she, she was perfect in every way. She taunted them
challencingly and led the even more twisted dance. She used the clouds in
her attempt to separate the good from those who just couldn't keep up with
her.

Treadoryth was amused with the green's use of the clouds, but he kept up
his chase determined to win the green beauty flying ahead of him. He even
had his rider's support on this chase which hadn't happened in awhile.
He slowly made his way into the front of the pack of males chasing the
wily green.

Kjarliheth was starting to tire and her speed slowed. She knew her time to
choose was coming now.

And she made her choice. Now, Treadoryth was a fine, handsome bronze and
seemed to keep up with her well. Her next twist deliberately brought her
to the bronze's path.

Seizing the opportunity, the bronze made his claim on the green and
entwined himself with Kjarliheth. }:Mine.:{ he said triumphantly to all
who were
listening. D'wrayt felt the bronze's joy at winning and couldn't help but
let it fill him with joy as he reached for the lovely greenrider.
