Cinale

Cinale

The morning breakfast chaos was over, the tables sparkled again and the dishes were all washed and put away. There was a little bit of time before the lunch meal preparations would begin in earnest.
Catriana pulled her apron off and tossed it on one of the chairs in the kitchen and went to find Cinale.

She'd heard, of course she'd heard, the gossip about Daigoro having a fall and hurting his back, and that Cinale was with him at the time. But no one could seem to agree just how serious the fall had been, and if Diagoro was alright.

Cinale was in her quarters, relaxing in the corner chair, the small green Fey in her lap. Sensing someone at the doorway, she looked up and smiled when she saw who it was. "Hello there, Cat." She gestured for the younger woman to come in before feeding her flit another small morsal of meat.

"Good morning, Cinale. Oh! You have a firelizard!" She'd never really had the chance to see one up close. And she was immediately enchanted by the little thing, her reason for stopping by momentarily forgotten.

"I do!" she grinned. "Come on over and have a seat and meet Fey."

"She is beautiful!" Catriana took a seat and leaned in for a closer look at the firelizard. "I've never known anyone whith a firelizard before.
Hello there, Fey."

The green gave a soft chirp in greeting before opening her mouth wide for another juicy tidbit. "She's still young," the cook smiled. "Here, you feed her, hon." She held out the small bowl of meat to the young woman.
"And you're you doing this morning?"

"I'm alright, Cinale. Oh...I remember. I was going to ask you about Daigoro. I'd heard he had fallen, but no one seems to know if he's well."
Catriana picked up a little piece of meat and offered it to the firelizard.

"Daigoro? Oh yes...he'd taken quite a fall on the ice out there," she replied, watching as Fey daintily took the morsel. "He's doing better though, Cat. Bruised his tailbone pretty badly, but my herbal brews seem to be helping numb some of the discomfort."

"Well you do work wonders with your cooking." Cat smiled and offered another piece to Fey. "I'm glad he's alright. You know how roumors fly around here, and each one gets worse than the last."

"I do know," Cinale laughed. "And even though I _work_ with the group of girls with the biggest mouths in this whole Hall, I haven't heard what they've been saying about poor Daigoro." The cook looked at the girl.
"What _have_ they been saying?"

"Well..." Catriana ticked off the varying rumors on her fingers. "That he hurt his back slipping on ice, like you said. That he's broken his leg, that he's still unconscious, that he saved you from falling, that he saved you from an attacking flock of wild wherries, " she fought hard not to smile as she recited that one, "That he's broken his back and they were going to choose from the _apprentices_ someone to replace him," ...yeah riiiight.... "They get even more incredulous from there. But I was still worried, all the same."

Cinale was grinning. "Some of those are pretty outrageous! But for the record, hon, I don't go chasing after wild wherries," she laughed with a wink.

"I didn't think you were the type...but all the same. I'm glad that you and Daigoro are alright." Catriana smiled, and more than a little relieved. "I'll be sure to tell only the true story, to counter act the crazy rumors flying about."

"Thanks, hon," she chuckled. "I'm sure Daigoro will appreciate your efforts too!"

"Aye. Well, It's about time to start lunch isn't it?" Their days were marked out by mealtimes.

Cinale stretched her legs out and sighed before giving the young woman a small grin. "Mmm-hmm. A woman's work is never done, hon!" Gently she gathered a now full and content Fey in her hands and set her down on the chair. "Let's go."
