R'mer was laughing with his friends, sharing a pint when the Headwoman
came over to clear some of the dishes off the table. The bronzerider
gave her a polite nod, but tried not to pay her too much attention. He
was already afraid everyone could see what they had done written on his
face whenever she was around. R'mer breathed a slight sigh of relief
when she walked on without speaking to him, but as he set his mug down,
he noticed the corner of a scrap of a hide peeking out from under his
plate.
His eyes widened a bit and he hurriedly covered it with his hand,
laughing with the rest of them at the joke one of his mates had made
though he didn't hear it. Excusing himself to the restroom, he slipped
the scrap into his pocket and walked purposefully out of the dining
hall and into a quiet corner. Pulling it out of his pocket, his brow
furrowed as he tried to read the words written on it. He could barely
read as it was, but this looked like a bunch of lines with sharp peaks
and deep valleys. All he could read was the name: "Quory" he whispered
out loud.
That didn't make sense. It must be the headwoman, but why would she
write her name like that? And just what was she trying to tell him?
Shards, he felt like an idiot. Was he supposed to go to her? Would she
come to him? Was she telling him to stop looking at her like that? He
couldn't tell! It was so frustrating to not be able to read her note!
And it wasn't as if he could ask someone for help. Then they'd _all_
know!
Confused, he walked back to his seat and grabbed his cup, scanning the
room for the Headwoman. Catching her eye, he inclined his head towards
the keg of beer left for the riders to fill their glasses and started
making his way over to it.
She came after speaking to one of the serving drudges. Arranging the
mugs, she watched him approach. "So, are you free tonight then?"
"Ya, I am." He reached for the spigot, not meeting her eye. "Where do
you want to meet then?"
"Your weyr. I'll come." She left then, going back to her duties.

Qorri made her way to R'mer's weyr, using the glows as a guide as she
came through the corridors. It was hard to maintain her curves with all
of the infernal stairs. Sighing, she stopped for a moment to collect
herself, then came to the entrance. "Let me in."
R'mer was there to quickly open the door for her, knowing she probably
wouldn't want to be seen by too many people sneaking into his weyr this
late. "Come in," he said softly, waving for her to enter.
She walked inside and looked around. She had been in here before for
other reasons, but it was different. Qorri's eyes went to places that
others wouldn't. His shelves were neat and his floors were fresh.
**Good**
The bronzerider couldn't help but feel that his tiny little room was
being given an inspection by the Headwoman. He shifted slightly,
wondering if she approved or disapproved with what he had done with it.
Looking around, trying to see it from her eyes, he could see just how
bare his little home was, and devoid of any character or personal
touches. It probably looked pretty empty and ugly to her. "It ain't
much," he said with a slight shrug.
"Most rider weyrs are rather spartan. I don't mind, since it saves me
the trouble of cleaning a lot of things out if the time comes." Her
comment was frank, if a little insensitive. "So, was there anything
you had in mind or should we just see where this goes?"
The memory of how he and Qorri had met when he helped her carry the
dead-rider-who-had-occupied-this-weyr's things down to the storage space
for riders whose time had come, as she had put it. Her question took him a
little off guard. He felt he was missing something. Didn't she have
something in mind? Wasn't that why she had come? Instinctively his
hand touched the pocket where the note still lay. Had she wanted to see
him for another reason? "I... Well... I thought you had something in
mind..."
"I do, but I wanted to know if there was anything you were curious
about." Qorri came up to him then. "Anything that last time made you
think of hm?"
"Oh, well..." He blushed slightly, a little embarrassed to admit all
the ideas that came into his head. "There are some things that some of
the boys have talked about that I've never... but maybe you have... And
you could teach me..."
"Maybe I can. What are they, R'mer?" She refrained from touching him,
wanting him to be able to think for the time being.
R'mer felt it was rude to say aloud, and so even though it was just
the two of them in the weyr, he still leaned forward and whispered very
softly one of the intriguing things he had overheard at a party. He
wondered if he might have shocked her, but he doubted it. Never had he
been so bold with anyone else as to say it so plainly.
One brow raised, but that was all the reaction he received. "Well, do
you want to try it in the bed or here in a chair?" She walked over,
pushing the chair to see how sturdy it was.
"You can _do_ that in a chair?" he asked, eyes opening rather wide.
Shards, she knew a _lot_ more than he did!
"Indeed. More traction that way." She smiled and started to undress
herself.
