Description: Tavia shares a surprise.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 1, day 27 of Turn 6
A small nest of towels and her own clothing sat on her table. The
first frantic days of waking up every couple of candlemarks to the
ravenous hunger were fading as she nodded in the chair next to it. Her
finger stroked the glowing head and tiny swirling eyes faded into
sleep. Sawauth kept poking her head through the curtain every time the
baby woke adding her own clamor to that of the hungry queen.
Tavia reached out to close the dish of meat until the next time she
awoke. It was Sawauth's weyrlinghood all over again in miniature and
the woman was happier than she'd been in many turns. She wore a simple
green robe that was just a square of cloth with a hole for her head
and sewn up the sides. The apprentices turned them out by the dozen
and she'd always found them comfortable in the warmth of Dolphin Cove.
She yawned as she waited hoping U'kaiah had gotten her message and
would be able to come after his day was over. Of course for her that
was the middle of the night but she had something special to show him.
It was something she thought he'd like.
This time as Kalamath broke into the sky above Dolphin Cove, he made no
sound, announcing himself silently to the watch dragon. He was very
careful to disturb Suwauth as little as possible as he back winged onto
the ledge beside her. U'kaiah also moved as quietly as he could as he
slipped off his bronze's neck and gently pulled back the curtain.
"Tavia?" he asked in a voice barely louder than a whisper.
"U'kaiah, you came." her head rose from where she'd laid it on her
arm. She sat up then stood stretching with a yawn. She met him half
way and slipped her hand into his coming to her toes to offer a soft
kiss.
He gave her hand a squeeze. Still speaking softly even though they
would disturb no one, he asked, "You're still awake?"
"Off and on," she said pointing to the little mound on the table. "She
just ate so she's out of it right now." She led him closer to the
table. "You can meet her later." She pulled him toward the sleeping
area.
As she pulled him along, he turned his head to look at the little flit
curiously over his shoulder. He really wanted to see her! But Tavia
seemed insistent so he followed. "What did you name her?"
"Her name is Glory." She said softly. She stopped pulling and started
helping him out of his jacket. "You'll see her before the night is
through. I just don't want to wake her up yet. She gets pretty
demanding."
"I don't want to wake her," he said with a soft chuckle, relaxing his
arms to allow her to slip the jacket off his shoulders. "I just want to
look at her."
She laughed softly and pushed him lightly toward the table. "Go
ahead." She took his jacket with her to follow him and hang the jacket
on the back of the chair.
He peered carefully down at the little gold. "She hardly seems real,"
U'kaiah whispered, his voice filled with awe. "She's a perfect little
queen, all right, but the tiniest I've ever seen." Even a new-born gold
Hatchling was several times bigger than a grown firelizard, and they had
seemed small to him. This left him with a real sense of wonder. "Glory
is a very fitting name," he nodded with approval.
She put her arms around his waist and closed her eyes for a moment.
Tavia whispered, "She has every bit of a queen's personality. I don't
think she knows how small she is."
U'kaiah wrapped his long arms around her, chuckling softly. "They never
do." He remembered Kalamath, who granted, had been much larger than
this little one, but had a personality larger than the body that he
would eventually grow into.
She'd spend candlemarks watching the little gold herself so she knew how
mesmerizing Glory could be especially when she was awake with tiny
whirling eyes exploring the world. "Come with me," she said softly and
tugged him toward the bed again.
This time the bronzerider willing followed her. still shaking his head
in disbelief. "That's the most amazing thing I've ever seen, without a
doubt. Who would have thought that even giant queens once started out
from little ones like her."
"Mmhmm" she said. Once she was sure he was following her she reached
up and pulled the caftan off over her head.
She had his undivided attention now! U'kaiah reached out and ran the
tip of his fingers down her spine, drinking in the site of her. It had
been a long day indeed, and she was just what he needed to find a bit of
release from the stress of the day.
She grinned and backed to the bed "Lay down with me" she whispered.
That was an offer he didn't even have to consider! Kicking off his
boots, he pulled his own shirt over his head before stretching out
beside her on the bed. His hands began gently kneading as his lips
traced soft kisses along her neck the way he had learned she liked.
She had shivers going all up and down as he began pushing all her
buttons and she wanted him to... "Ohhhhh" she sighed. She shook
herself and grabbed his hand. "Wait..." she kissed him. "I want you
to feel this." She moved the palm of his hand slowly down her abdomen
watching his face until it finally reached the hard fist sized
swelling just above her pelvic bones.
The look in his eyes was smoldering as he willingly allowed her to move
his hand where she wished. It turned to confusion when their fingers
stopped short of his expected destination. Finally, his eyes grew
intense. He had come to know her body very well in the past months, and
it quickly registered that something was different. As the realization
of what it might be dawned on him, his look was filled with hopeful
wonder. He asked in a soft whisper, "Is that..." U'kaiah lost the
words.
"Yes, it is..." She'd had a similar reaction when she'd first
discovered it there.
U'kaiah caressed the bump, following the contours and measuring it with
his fingertips. He moved his mouth as if to say something, but no words
came out and he looked at her almost helplessly. The words just would
not come.
She smiled a little timidly almost as overwhelmed as he seemed. Then
she stroked the side of his face. "That's a part of you, and always
will be."
He grinned back, finally minding his footing once more. "Today is full
of wonders," he murmured softly before leaning down to kiss her softly.
